Perfect Dark & Kameo Sold 'Phenomenally Well' Says Rare >
2008/08/06 13:38:56: Posted by DM
Speaking with Videogamer.com, Rare Senior Software Engineer Nick Burton spoke about the reports that Kameo and Perfect Dark bombed at the Xbox360's launch. He stated that in comparison to the installed base of hardware, which, at launch, is not much, the games sold "phenomenally well." Sounds like it could be true.

In the industry if you break even you're lucky, you're in the minority. If you make a decent amount of money you're really in the minority. You're in the top percentile. Those two games made a lot of money. For the install base they sold phenomenally well. Kameo is still selling now."

I Have both games, I bought Kameo to play with this girl, and after we beat the game, we met up at a place got a hotel, well.. Do I have to go into detals?? lets just say She played with my Wii, until she got RROD in her eye. GAME ON!!

^^^LMAO^^^ Better for her to get RROD in her eye from playing with your Wii then for you to have little Mii's running around 9 months later.

Ya I own Kameo. Very underrated game.

Maybe I should pick Kameo up. I was excited for it back when it was announced for gamecube, but just recently got 360 and forgot about it. Anyone know where I can get it cheap?

Gamestop, it should be in the platinum hits (I Think). or used sections.

I remember when kameo was a gc game and all the xbots thought it was gonna suck. Now its a different story of course.

They're probably counting all the free copies MS gave away for RROD customers who complained as sales, that's how I got mine. Still shrinkwrapped, have no real interest in playing it and the TIV is like $1.50.

I remember when PStards thought the PS2 was going to have CGI movie quality graphics and the PS3 would be capable of 4D and 120fps.

I also seem to remember games like RFOM, Motorstorm, GTA4, and now MGS4 that have artifical sales numbers because they are being bundled with new PS3's.

PimpDaddy is correct:

Sony and Konami have definitely told "artificial numbers" when it comes to Metal Gear Solid 4.

For example, it was recently confirmed that Metal Gear Solid 4 runs at a resolution of only 1024x768 with a single-frame setup. That means MGS4 displays only 786,432 pixels, compared to the normal 720p resolution of 1280x720p, which displays 921,600 pixels.

That is the reason why MGS4 was ripped on for having low resolution textures.

Also, it was confirmed that Konami forced many websites, magazines, and newspapers to sign a contract that caused Metal Gear Solid 4 to be rated higher than it deserved to be rated. Konami knew for sure that the factor of long and annoying "partial installs" throughout the MGS4 game would cause the reviews to be much lower, since those "partial installs" that happen last for times of 5 minutes, 4 minutes, 3 minutes, 2 minutes, and 1 minute.

Rather than continue to live with low review scores of 8 out of 10 that were originally seen, Konami forced reviewers to sign a contract that they were NOT allowed to consider the factor of "partial installs" when reviewing the game! If the reviewers were willing to consider that factor, then Konami would NOT provide the reviewers with a copy of the game to review...this is the reason why so few websites mentioned the MAJOR PROBLEM of the LOOOOOONG "partial installs" in Metal Gear Solid 4.
