The sounds are exactly what you would expect from an NBA game, the crowd, the court sounds, and the player grunts are all there. You can, of course, adjust all the volumes, and you can use the custom soundtrack feature of the Xbox360 if you prefer. The crowd actually responds to how well you are playing, depending on the stadium you are playing in.

The online play in this game is exactly as good as you would expect it to be. The online game is packed full of options and modes, so many that you will likely not get bored before NBA 2k7 is released. Yes, there is that much to do. Read the mode by mode Xbox Live section for the full details. The games I joined online were all lag-free except for one, but that person was all the way in Alaska and we are here in New York - an isolated incident if ever there was one. You should not have any connection issues when playing this game online.




Let’s get down to the mode by mode.

Quick game is pretty straightforward, 1 to 4 players can jump right in to action with any of the standard teams or the extra teams that you have unlocked so far. Nothing too complicated.

In the game modes menu you can pick from a myriad of different options. They are as follows:

24/7: Road to the EBC: This is the mode where you can create your own player and travel the country taking on NBA players and lesser celebrities. You can create a new players, save your current progress, or even import a player.

The Association: This is the management mode where you play as the team manager/owner and make decisions that will affect how your team plays. You can also play all the games on the game calendar. Think of this as season mode with more decision.

Season: The basic season mode where you can play through the 82 game season without having to make management decisions.


Street: The classic street ball mode where you can play games like 21 and one-on-one or even one-on-one-on-one.

Tournament: This is where you can setup tourneys with 4 to 16 teams with a fantasy draft if you wish.

Practice: Exactly what the name suggests, you can run a practice game or practice free throws.

Situation: In this mode you can setup situations to play in. For instance, you can setup a game where you are down by 5 points and there is only 1 minute remaining in the game. You have used all of your fouls and the opposing team has none. Will you win? Try and see. Definitely a mode you will spend a ton of time on.
