Rumor Roundup: What Was Right Now that X06 is officially over and done with, lets take a look back at some of the rumors which were either confirmed or debunked. Rumor: Black Xbox 360 announced for X-mas release along with new core and premium bundles for the holiday season. Rumor: Xbox 360 Classics game list. Kameo, PDZ included. More this spring including Oblivion. Rumor: HD- DVD add-on priced at $199.99/£119.99/E149.99 with bundled remote in November. True. With a release date a little over a month away, this one wasn't too hard to believe. Rumor: New Halo 3 details revealed and trailer shown with announcement of 50-64 player Live support and native 1080p. False. However, the title “Halo Wars” was announced as well as a partnership with Peter Jackson on another “Halo universe” title.Rumor: Doom with 4-player multi on XBLA for 800 MS points. True: Downloadable a little over an hour after the show for 800 points. Rumor: Fall dashboard announcement and release in November. Adds XNA game express support. False. No word on the update besides the news that the 1080p update would occur in November last week at TGS. Rumor: Live Anywhere details announced. Information on Zune and XBLA integration. Somewhat True. Peter Moore skipped over this quite quickly and announced that more details would be coming in 2007. Rumor: Rare to preview Killer Instinct for the 360. The new title would feature four-player tag matches. False: The new IP from Rare ended up being Banjo Kazooie. Rumor: Alan Wake shown and fully playable with a spring release date on Windows Vista and 360. True: Well not entirely true, as you couldn’t get your hands on it on the show floor, but the title is definitely coming for both platforms. Rumor: Fable 2 trailer shown. Multiplayer confirmed. False: No mention of Fable 2 beyond it being on a “coming soon” slide. Assuming development for Fable 2 began when Microsoft purchased Lionhead Studios earlier this year, this game has a while to go. |
