Better than 4 billion.

And where did 4 billion come from?

He is making reference to the 4 billion Microsoft lost on the original Xbox. Like a typical bitch, always bringing up the past. Instead of focusing on what is going on today...

Since this is obviosuly SDF spin day on GR. I thought I would share a cooment I just saw on N4G:

SONY IS IN DEEP TROUBLE!!!!!!

Here are the results of Sonys Gaming division for the last couple of years:

FY09: $600 million loss

FY08: $1300 million loss

FY07: $2400 million loss

FY06: $90 million profit

In the last 4 years Sony reported a $4.21 billion loss.

We do know that the PS2 was profitable for all the years I listed. The PSP probably was at break even-point in 06 and profitable since then.

So the losses made happened because of the PS3. The losses made with the PS3 are really insane when you think about it. We have $4.21 billion reported, but that is not all. You have to add the profits made with the PSP and the PS2 for 4 years. In the years 03 - 05 Sony reported a combined profit of $2.3 billion USD.

So a total loss of $6 billion just for the PS3 is likely. Think about 6 billion USD for ONE single product. That is huge.

tr1p1ea: There is your 4 billion right there. The fact that the games division is still losing money every year shows how much money Sony is losing on manufacturing the PS3 at a higher cost then they are selling it to retailers for. Not to mention advertising, game development, aquisition of more developers, and giving PSN/Home away for free. They are selling 3 different pieces of console hardware. Shit load of games. Accessories. Yet still losing money??? Anybody still think a PS3 price cut is coming anytime soon? I dont...

Wow Pimp beat me to the punch.

Yeah the ps3 lost more money for Sony than the xbox lost for MS. Don't forget the $3 billion Sony got for selling their IPO (or whatever that's called).

Fanboys need to shut up.

Considering the current state of the economy all over the world, reports like this do not surprise me. Every company is losing money, thanks to the banks and the government of pretty much every nation.

I dont care about the ps3 at all, i hope sony is layed to financial ruin.
