I liked when they asked the guys if they think halo 3 is their competition then he started telling the guy how great socom is.
Written by silverwolf on 2006/05/30

I guess they had to pick something they could actually compete with socom being it.
Written by Bill Nye (20) on 2006/05/30

The Socom answer was in response to this part of the question as follows: "Between Resistance and Killzone, Sony seems to be building a strong set of first-person shooters to take on a genre that has historically been stronger on Xbox."

He then answers the question about competition by saying "As for whom Insomniac views as our competition for Resistance: Fall of Man, we have a different take on the subject. Our primary objective has always been to simply make games that we ourselves would want to play. That's been a rule of ours at Insomniac since the very beginning. So, it doesn't matter to us who our competition is as long as we continue making the kinds of games that inspire and challenge us to grow as developers."

A little critical thinking isn't too hard, is it guys?
Written by optaviusx on 2006/05/30

No bill Nye he completely avoided acknowledging that Halo 3 was their competition and you know it. He instead tried to advertise for another sony product as if it is more worthy of being competition for resistance.

He completely avoided the question altogether and it was obvious.
Written by Bill Nye (20) on 2006/05/30

He was just saying that Socom was a successful shooter franchise on PS2 despite the genre being stronger on Xbox. And that's very true. So he believes that Resistance can also be successful.

And he answers the competition question just like any representive would: by saying that they create games that they would want to play and help them grow as developers, not response to competition. So he DOES answer the question by saying, 'NO' they don't think Halo 3 is competition.

Need I spoon feed you anymore?
Written by silverwolf on 2006/05/30

Whatever! That's called avoidance and re-direction a trend that's widely used in politics something you seem not to have a clue about.

This quote: "So he DOES answer the question by saying, 'NO' they don't think Halo 3 is competition." Is your assumption, he did not state that. Comments like theses could've been avoided by him simply answering the question. How hard was it anyways!

Beggin for Appreaciation is very funny to see.

Halo may have been a King on the Xbox but thats it.

I guess he is not bothered about it...Since his concentrating on there OWN game and other Sucessful games like Socom. So sorry HALO is not the only BIG SELLER, in his Eyes.
Written by optaviusx on 2006/05/30

The problem is that they are on lock and key by sony so much that they can't talk about anything other than sony or give credit where credit is due or they'll get in trouble with sony.

Microsoft developers have absolutely no trouble giving sony or nintendo credit or respecting their big franchises, but they are obviously too above acknowledging something like Halo. Halo sales and Socom sales there's no comparison and we all know that nor is socom nearly as good a game as halo is.
Written by silverwolf on 2006/05/30

All games are kings in there exclusively owned systems. A direct answer for a direct question leaves assumptions at an end.
Written by optaviusx on 2006/05/30

Halo isn't just king on xbox as people like to say its easily one of the best fps games ever up there with things like quake, and half life. It isn't exactly beggin for attention, but it was extremely funny how he avoided the question regarding halo 3 and mentioned socom in its place as if socom is anywhere nearly as big as Halo or GTA. Thats like comparing Motorstorm to Gran Turismo.

Yea I guess so. This no big deal either way I would've actually liked if he was man enough to actually say what he thought about halo. Most likely impressed by what he saw at E3 from Halo 3, but if he said that he'd lose his job
Written by Bill Nye (20) on 2006/05/30

Price: "...it doesn't matter to us who our competition is." That sounds like a pretty direct statement regarding competition to me (Siverwolf). Should I paraphrase? Nah, paraphrasing to you means making an assumption. But here's a hint: he's referring to Halo 3.

By the way, the question is about whether or not Halo 3 is considered 'competition', not whether he thinks the Halo games are 'good'. So why should he 'give credit where it's due' or be 'man enough' to say what he thinks about Halo when he wasn't even asked to. If there was some hidden part of the question that asked him that, please enlighten me.

Also, for the third time, his Socom comment was in response to the first portion of the question, not the an answer to Halo 3 as competition. By mentioning the success of Socom he was not avoiding anything. And even if his intentions were to avoid the question by citing Socom, he answers it later in his response quoted above anyway.

I see a lot of cry babies... MAd that Halo 2 sucked goat nuts? Ted Price is a stand up guy and he's actually in the business and knows what he's talking about... Unlike half of you morons, who claim to know.

Ted Price didn't avoid anything in this interview... He said he don't like to compete with other games... He makes games that he would enjoy playing.

Simple and clean... Go back to thumbing Halo's ass you PONY PISSERS!
Written by silverwolf on 2006/05/30

DAMN! mr know it all you seem to be all over Ted price’s NUTS. Whenever you get your mouth off of them come by and post something useful.

To Mr Know it all : With A Name Like That I Only Can Assume That You Don't Know Shit About What You Are Talking About. Ok Insomniac Did A Great Game Call RAC... This The Very First FPS Ever For Them, So Yes Visually The Game Will Look Awesome... But, What About Gameplay ¿ Anyone Remembers Black ¿ Awesome Graphics 10/10 ! Gameplay 4/10. Why Is Halo So Much Fun ¿ GAMEPLAY 10/10 ! Why ¿ Bungie Started There Business By Making FPS For The Apple 2 (More Then 20 Years Ago) And They Learned With The Years How To Make A Good FPS.

So Thats Why Halo Is So Good : 20+ Years Of Experience In FPS, And Insomniac 2 Years Of Experience In FPS.
Written by silverwolf on 2006/05/30

Ok bill if that sounds like a direct statement to you, great! Whatever floats your boat buddy I don't really give a shit. Thanks for not paraphrasing your post are long and boring as it is. Let’s just agree to disagree.
Written by Mr. Know it all (83) on 2006/05/30

To x3mis... Shows what you know... They did a little game called Disruptor for the Playstation... IT's not their 1st FPS, CHUMP BUTTER!

Look into it.
Written by x3mis on 2006/05/31

Hello Mr. Know ¿ You Are Telling Me That The Playstation Came Out Before The Apple 2 ¿ WOW ! Actually My Bad The Very First FPS Was On Apple IIFX In 1992 Called Minotaur. The First Game Ever Was Gnop In 1991, Minotaur 1992, Pathways In 1993, Marathon In 1994, Myth 1996, Oni 1997, Halo 1999 And Halo 2003. Were Did You Got That Game ¿
Written by Mr. Know it all (83) on 2006/05/31

No, I'm not telling you that... I'm telling you that you don't know what you're talking about cause this isn't Insomniacs first FPS, like you said.

On the contrary, this will be their second. Disruptor was their first and it was on the PSone... I sure hope that cleared things up.

Oh and you don't know jack stuffin', buddy... Face it.

So take your little Halo and beat yourself off.
Written by OptX (103) on 2006/05/31

So if he were to say yeah, Halo 3 is our direct competition, would you then change your tune and be satisfied with his response? No, you would all then change your tune to, "What, is this guy a moron? The next Killzone etc etc." Insomniac makes awesome games, so I will certainly be looking forward to it. God you fanboys are rediculous.
Written by silverwolf on 2006/05/31

I love reading fanboy wisdom, it's so inspiring! Even when they accuse others of being fanboys when they are clearly fanboys themselves.

Lol Silverwolf !

Wait a minute...I admit Halo is the best FPS on the XBox. But one of the best FPS ever? I really doubt that.

You can't put it on the same pedestals as Half-Life or Quake.
