	The new game from Quantic Dream that has everyone going bonkers, including us, Heavy Rain, is showing off a new trailer at Leipzig. You can see it below, and it looks great. Combine that with QD's ability to spin a serious yarn, and this game is going to be one to own, mark our words.

I was just about to post this in the forums. Looks awesome, and though I was hoping Quantic dreams would step away from using QTEs, but it didn't stop me from enjoying Indigo Prophecy so it's no big deal.

This is the PS3 game of 2009 IMO.

Sony's approach on building a solid first party foundation instead of MS's "lets rely on 3rd party approach", will take the PS3 to new heights.

all those games you listed sold over a million copies.. sounds like a success to me especially for New IP's and with a console with a lower install base.

I'm not sure what to make of this game. I'd like to know more about it. If it's an interactive story and nothing but QTE, I'm not sure if it's something I really want to "play."

Sky: What I know is this. The PS3 is only 5-6 million behind the 360 in worldwide sales. Yet the PS3 attach rate is a lot lower than the 360 attach rate. Which leads me to believe that 100% of people who buy a 360 got it as a videogame console. Where as with the PS3 that percentage is divided between people who bought it as a videogame console and people who bought it as a Blu-Ray player.

I do track sales of games. To me attach ratio is a better indicator of sales than total sales since there is a disparity between the 360 and PS3 user bases.

That being said the 360 game attach ratio is the highest in videogame history. Last time I checked even the Wii had a higher game attach rate.

So while SDF guys like yourself talk about these great games. XDF guys like myself actually buy these games.

All those games you listed sold over a million.. like i said before sounds good to me for the caliber titles they are. pretty solid first gen PS3 games which climbed to over a million in sales each.

That is if you factor in Wii play (pack in). I guess it depends on how you look at it. It's sorta like Sony inflated sales of Motorstorm with the bundle.

Sorry, I see where you're coming from, but in sales, it's not similar. While I don't think it's fair to count Wiiplay either, it still counts and can't really be compared to a pack-in game with the system. You're forced to have said game when you buy a system, which adds +1 to the attach rate if included (which they rarely do), but no one is forced to buy wiiplay.

Besides other games like GH3 and maybe even Rock band sell more on the Wii than the ps3. I don't know if many people have noticed, but the Wii has really been tearing up the software charts lately in all regions. Yeah, it's mostly 1st party and the occasional music game, but it's all the same in the world of attach rates. I know the 360 is at around 7.8 (how do you have a .8 of a game anyways?) followed by the Wii then the ps3.

Yeah, it sells a crapload of crappy shovelware and crazy Japanese games that only appeal to their culture.

08 and beyond are years of the ps3. sony and there strong first party support enables that. we are guaranteed good exclusives for years to come on top of third party games. kenny i heard your xbox died? did you get it replaced? one less thing you have to worry about if you stick with blu .

I own a Wii for it's first party exclusives. Not too mayy 3rd party games interest me at the moment. Especially when I can get the HD versions with online play and a familiar controller for $10.00 more.

Just because graphics may be last gen, that doesn't mean they have to be "crappy". The artistic nature of the graphics themselves play a huge part in how a game looks no matter what system the said game is on.

I have to add, that what you fucking ps3 fanboy idiots don't realize is that these future years of the ps3 only look so good because the first couple years were so horrible. Maybe if you guys really had a steady flow of good games and features since day one, then may, JUST MAYBE, you guys wouldn't be busting a nut to every quality game or feature like in game messaging or trophies. Every generation of consoles since my Atari 2600 days have always pushed the graphics up a notch whenever the next generatio of consoles game out.

Atari 2600 --> Atari 5200 --> Atari 7800 --> Jaguar

Sega Master system --> Genesis --> Saturn --> Dreamcast

Sony PS1 --> PS2 -- PS3

Xbox --> Xbox 360

Then we get to Nintendo

NES --> SNES --> N64 --> Gamecube/Wii

I will admit I was seriously down on the PS3 at this time last year. And for good reason. I bought one, it had exactly one game that I liked. That was WarHawk. PSN sucked donkey balls compared to Live. So I ended up trading it in and getting another 360.

But fast forward to a year later and PSN is actually worth a damn now. There are actually a few games besides WarHawk that I like, they got force feedback, and dropped the price 200 dollars.

None of these consoles are perfect. And noe of them is going to totally dominate this generation. The Wii will eventually slow down. More people will get HDTV's and broadband online. The 360 and PS3 will keep coming down in price.

By the time all is said and done this generation we will have had a 3 way race. Not total Sony domination like the prior 2 generations.

You shouldn't expect the Wii's graphics to progress as much as the ps3's or 360's, the Wii doesn't have near the amount of power as the higher end consoles. So I would hope you would see a difference.

Also anything that is displayed in SD resolutions will probably look like butt on a HDTV, especially a 1080p HDTV where you will have the largest amount of upscaling. upscaling itself degrades IQ, so that further kills the picture

It's that I expected Wii games to at least look significantly better than Gamecube games. They don't. At least not yet... They could have at least put hardware in that would push the graphics at the 480i/p level.

I have played a Wii on an old SD tv at 480i. It's probably just the graphics whore in me complaining and wishing I could play Zelda, Mario, Metroid, etc... in HD.

Like I said I got the Wii for the first party Nintendo games. Also because the wife and kids wanted it. But even they prefer the 360 over the Wii. In fact besides the occasional Wii sports, Wii Play, and Super Smash Brothers, the Wii doesn't get any time on the TV any more.

Hardware just doesn't scale like that. When the components are really just overclocked Gamecube components (with added TEV units and more memory) than you really shouldn't expect anything "significantly" better.

Yes the games will continue to look and play better, but just because you limit the resolution, this doesn't mean you can automatically use the saved computational power to provide better graphics.

You have though, from the teams that are willing to put forth the effort.

MP3, Mario Galaxy, Smash Brothers, and The conduit are all games that are above the usual GC title.

Many publishers don't feel the need to put that kind of effort, and more importantly, money behind a title when graphics are usually not a selling point of a Wii title.

I'm not arguing with you at all, I'm just saying that the games your looking for are there if you look for them.

Just hard for me to figure out whether it's the hardware, the developers, or both that are keeping Wii games from looking better... I'm sure once I get the component cables for the Wii the games will look better too.

Component cables made a big difference on my Xbox switching from 480i to 480P.

People were saying the Wii was supposed to be twice as powerful as the Gamecube. So even if it is Gamecube 1.5 or Xbox Lite I thought we would get better graphics then what we were seeing.

I probably just had misguided expectations. I like the "fun" factor of Nintendo games so thats why I got a Wii. Like I said if I am disappointed it's only because the HD graphics that even the most poorly programmed 360/PS3 game display have raised the bar for me.

It's why when people try to say a game like Too Human has Wii quality graphics I wan't to throw up...

I have joked before that the Wii is just a recycled, overclocked Gamecube with a fancy white paint job and a gimmicky controller. There is some truth in there. It also makes me wonder if Nintendo could have just made a Wii-mote for the Gamecube...
