EA is apparently getting fedup with all the talk about the horrible DRM and digital protection measures that are plaguing Spore. So much so, that over at the official forums, users are now risking their Spore accounts being banned if they speak about the protection methods in their posts. The draconian protection apparently requires users to buy a copy of the game for every player in the house, even though the game clearly states otherwise. Way to win over your gamers, EA.

Again, a third installment of the popular Baldur's Gate series is said to be in development without Bioware. Most of us can figure this as common sense, as BG3 is more or less inevitable, but they are keeping quiet, whoever "they" is, since the developer is not named yet. The title will not be ready for at least another year, CVG reports, and Atari is said to be handling publishing. The former devs from Black Isle formed Obsidian Entertainment, who may be developing the game, but that is pure speculation. Rumor mill for now, more info when we have it.

With Crysis: Warhead's release imminent, Crytek producer Bernd Diemer spoke with Gamasture, and revealed that the sequel started out as a plain old expansion. The initial reaction of developers is always, "let's do an expansion," he said, and it was slated to be a lot shorter. After they took a hard look at all the additions that were planned, the Crysis team realized it was much more suited to a full sequel, so was born Crysis: Warhead.

"We then decided to develop a longer campaign -- a full single-player campaign -- but we kept the $29.99 price point, which leans more towards the expansion pack."

Today is the seventh anniversary of the 9-11 terror attacks on the Twin Towers in New York City. As you may or may not know, GR is based in the outskirts of Manhattan, so it hit us hard here. In fact, over 70 people from our town alone died that day. If any of you have a moment, just give a thought as to where things have been and where we are going since then. Nothing so serious as a moment of silence, but just give a thought as to where things are now, and where they were on 9-11, and where they are going. We also want to single out one person who we knew for 18 years, who finally got a job at the WTC after years of not doing much, just two weeks before the attacks. Johnathan C., we miss you, and to his family, we say, all our support on this hardest of days.

Simon Fox, a representative from HMV, told The Sun recently that while music sales will account for just one quarter of sales, while video games will account for almost 20% of total sales, and sell more every month. This is not surprising, of course, as retail music sales have been dying for a while, but it is nice to see that video games are finally big enough to be able to swing its weight around to better the lives of us gamers!

GSC has announced that the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. sequel, Clear Sky, will now be released on September 15, 2008. The game continues the adventure that players completed, or thought they completed, in the original title, a year ago. The slight delay is due to a small manufacturing issue, apparently, but it seems it has been remedied already. Click read more for the full info.

The company has finally purchased the F.E.A.R. name from ActiBlizz, and Monolith has been developing the true sequel to the original game for over tow years now. With the name finally being returned to its creators, it seems that all is falling into place. Hopefully we will get some sort of demo soon.
