Firstly, Evoluent provides one of the coolest driver features I have ever seen, all in the name of ergonomics and physical health. There is a tab on the driver pages which is called “break.” On this tab are two options, a “break reminder,” and a “resume reminder.” In keeping with its commitment to “arm-health,” Evoluent has included optional alarms with the mouse driver software in order to help remind users to take a small break after a prolonged amount of time using the mouse. This is a fantastic feature and a godsend for those of us who get so caught up in work or gaming that we forget to get up and take a breather from time to time. Next, the Evoluent software provides the ability to have up to three mouse sensitivity settings memorized to toggle between. Please note, this is not a dpi change, but rather a change in the position of the slider that determines the “mouse pointer speed” in the Windows driver page. Users can set up to three extra positions for the slider, and can either assign a button on the mouse to cycle trough these slider positions, or set a hotkey combination to cycle through them. This is another fantastic feature that will appeal to gamers in lieu of an on-the-fly sensitivity adjustment feature. It is also another ingenious driver option that I have not seen before. Lastly, the Evoluent drivers provide the ability to set custom button configurations for specific applications or games. Users can select any program on the PC using the driver config software, and when that program is run, the Vertical Mouse 3 button settings will be re-assigned based on the user’s settings for that application or game. When I tried this feature it worked without problem for both Photoshop and the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. The drivers also include the standard settings like click lock, auto click, wheel scroll settings, and auto scroll. The driver suite, as I said earlier, is one of the most full featured software packages I have seen in a while. It rivals the Logitech SetPoint driver suite in the sheer amount of things you can do, and even adds a few new tricks. |
