Besides the main career mode of the game, there is also the online and the constructor mode. In the constructor mode, you will face another set of director’s challenges, as the object of the game there is to use your stunt knowledge in order to line up the pieces to make a stunt work. It is a pretty clever way to flip a game on its head. The online mode is another story altogether. The online mode is average to good, depending on what you are expecting. There are three modes, but there is really only one that takes advantage of the Stuntman game play. Forget the race and battle modes, the Movie Challenges mode is what you want when online. In this mode you will race against other live players on the same main stunt sequence, and everyone goes at the same time. If you hang back, someone else may have already tried the stunt and miserably failed, leaving you to dodge all the objects that they left in their wake. Not fun, people.’ let me tell you. It is the best online mode in the game, so give it a shot. What else can I say about Stuntman: Ignition? In this day and age of sequels, repeated story clichés, and games that are simply genre fillers, Stuntman stands out as an attempt to bring something unique to gamers, and for that, I think it deserves much credit. Of course, if it comes off crappy, then it will go down in flames even worse than a run of the mill FPS. Fortunately, Stuntman does pull it off, and if you can get past the fact that the game is basically built around repetition, then you will enjoy owning this title, even though you may well complete it within a few days. At least there is always the Xbox Live modes. |
