Bet On Soldier

Bet On Soldier: Blood Sport is the new release from Digital Jesters that Gamers Reports got a chance to take a look at recently. I know what everyone must be thinking (as I was), not another FPS game. However, this game did surprise me in a few areas.

The game is about what our world would be like if we were constantly at war, whether it be for world politics or for pleasure/sport, meaning that while the war is going on the viewing public gets to not only watch what’s happening, but bet on their favorite soldiers in head to head death matches. Overall the game kind of has a Running Man feel I found, so depending on whether or not you liked that movie, you may or may not like the theme of this game.

The premise of the game is that you are a soldier named Nolan who has lost most of his memory other than the terrible night that your family was killed. You do not know who killed your family or why they were killed, but after some research you find out that entering the Bet On Soldier show will be the best way to figure out what happened and exact your revenge since a few of the men responsible for your family's murder were former B.o.S champions. Now on to the game play.

The first thing I will say is that this is a fairly nice looking game with some cool, detailed environments, the downside of this being there are some heavy graphic requirements. As you start out you get a basic mission where you learn your controls. At the beginning of each level you select what weapons you would like to outfit yourself with i.e. a basic handgun with shield, machine gun, sniper rifle, different types of grenades, etc. You also must select your armor type and any mercenaries or engineers to help you with your mission (I find the engineer to be helpful since he can repair your armor). Finally, you must select which B.o.S champion you would like to face off against in each level. What is thehe point of all this you ask? Apart from Nolan finding out who killed his family is to make money. You make money for each person you kill in the game, and you make money for each champion you kill. You get more money for killing a more skilled champion, and you also get more money the faster you kill him. Throughout the game you can find save points which cost you money, as well as repair/restock depots that give you options of what ammo, repairs, etc you would like to purchase.
