Kameo: Elements Of Power

As we mentioned earlier, the sounds in the game are top notch. The soundtrack (when you can actually hear it) is second to none, and the voiceovers are well done, if a bit overacted. Kameo, in fact, has a weird accent that I could not place, but once you play the game you will see exactly what I mean. You can tell that some of the character like the Mystic and Thorn were voiced by professional animation voice actors.

The story of the game as you play along is not as epic as I would have hoped. It starts out strong, and it finishes strong, but there are no surprises here. The things that happen are exactly what you expect to happen. That is not to say the game will not hold your interest, it certainly will if for no other reason then you want to see just how beautiful the next level looks. I never notices any framerate drops, and everything pretty much transitioned smoothly from cutscene to game. Way to go on that one Rare. Let’s go to the mode by mode.

The solo mode is where you will be doing most of your playing. This is where you can start the single player adventure, and once you complete a level you can return to that level in score attack mode. Score attack is exactly what you think it is, highest score possible on that specific level. You can also set the game options for the game save you are playing. As we said earlier, besides inverting the control sticks and toggling the wotnot book’s help (which can get annoying at times), there is not many other options to set.

The co-op mode is for local Xbox play only. You can use the split screen to play simultaneously with a friend on any of the levels you have already unlocked, but frankly, it seems like Rare phoned them in. I give them credit for trying to add an aspect of the game beyond the single player mode, but when you get right down to it, there is really just no need to complete any of the missions in co-op mode. The game just is not a game that lends itself to playing in co-op mode.
