Incredibly, and also inevitably, the tally of online matches for Halo 3 has breached the 1 billion mark. Yes, we said 1 billion. Since the game's release in September 2007 (we still remember the day like it was yesterday), there have been 1 billion matches played online, with the "billionth" match happening on February 28, 2009, at 6:36 PST. The game was a 3 minute and 19 second Infection match on the Foundry map. The total amount of time that gamers have spent playing Halo 3 online, according to Bungie's calculations, approximately equals 64,109 years. Pretty impressive Bungie, congrats.
