Microsoft Announces New Motion Control System, Spring 2010? > |
2009/06/01 14:57:07: Posted by DM | |
The technology uses full-body motion capture with a camera. You can use your own gear such as a skateboard if you want to scan it in. You can use the camera to basically perform any motions you want and the game will translate it on screen. If this works as well as it looks, the future is here. The system is called Project Natale, and no controller will be required for the games. It will work with every Xbox360 previously sold and every upcoming system. The system will even have facial recognition! Apparently it will log you in just by recognizing your face! Now we have Peter Molyneux up on the stage, and he is talking about his new motion control project. It is a boy named Milo, and he recognizes your facial expressions, and actually talks back. This is downright creepy. It is a virtual person, and he interacts with you in real time. Man this is scary, the beginning of the end of the world if you ask us. Skynet here we come. Well that is it. It is scary, scary, stuff, but if it is real it will be fun. In a year's time, who knows. We may end up talking dirty to our virtual stipper wives on Xbox360. "oh yeah baby, spike those Ohms, burn out those capacitors you volty bitch." We need to get out more here at GR. No release date was mentioned at the press conference, but the lead developer said in an interview after that it would not be released in 2009. Expect it Spring 2010.

This will be truly amazing if it is capable of what they are saying. My imagination may be running wild, but i am picturing replicas of guns being sold, allowing you to physically switch weapons in a shooter to do so in the game. I can see things getting a bit expesive, though.
