Rainbow Six: Vegas Will Have Facemapping On 360 > |
2006/05/29 21:16:42: Posted by DM | |
According to GamingBits, in Major Nelson's weekly podcast, he revealed that Rainbow Six: Vegas and a few XBLA games will use the face mapping technology. This means you can literally put your face into the game. Sounds creepy to us, you can imagine the potential for misuse. (Picture a R6 operative with a butt for a face).

I can hear it now, "Damnit Assface, quit shooting me. Same goes for you Cock-head, were on the same team!"
Written by kidkit on 2006/05/30
they'll probably reserve it for one player, or have some managed approval system for user submitted faces

Sees the chatting during a mission "MisterCheeks you take lead, MisterHead you follow in behind. Wait what did I just.. no no no."

Kidkit : Thats what i was thinking with the Gamer Pictures as well, They will have to be submitted more then likely, And approved.

I love this idea. but you lot are really mad if you would like to put your butt as your face :D I just wish you could somehow use saved pictures from your hardrive or images from your computer through windows media connect, cause i wont be able to put bullets into some clebs.Karl i hope sony copy this idea and make it better, because in the end it benefits us gamers.

Actually Karl, it's not innovation or original.Rare actually had this ready many years ago for Perfect Dark on N64, but pulled out at the last minute because Nintendo didn't want people killing their friends (faces) in game.

Am i really the only one on this planet that thinks this is an stupid, childish idea and is an waste of time, effort and money?al this useless gimmick crap!
Written by optaviusx on 2006/05/30
Well its pointless to gameplay if thats what you're asking, but people might like their face in a game especially a bunch of friends that know eachother in person playing poker over xbox live. I'm definetly getting that poker game when it comes out so me and my friends can relax and play some poker on xbox live. This isn't as gimmicky as using the psp as your rear view (who plans on doing that often?) mirror or the gyro control in warhawk actually it is. I find it really cool to see your friend's real faces in a poker game over xbox live.

This may not be as gimmicky as you put it optaviusx. But I agree with langejan it's still a gimmick no matter what. I really don't see the excitement in this. Also look at all the stuff people are posting about using other body parts. I don't feel like staring at my friends private part while playing poker. It is a stupid and childish idea like langejan puts it and I also feel he is right about it being a waste of time, effort and money.

Its not a waste on anyone's part. The capability basically comes with the camera and the software will be on xbox live with the dashboard update. Ubisoft made a VERY minor addition to the game to make it possible all it would've taken was a single programmer and 10 minutes. The guys that provided the software to Microsoft are the ones that actually did work on this. Also I admitted it was a gimmick Ric :P When I said "actually it is", but I meant to put "nevermind that it isn't as gimmicky talk it actually is just as gimmicky". Can't edit though :D

You forget about what the Eye Toy 1 and Eye Toy 2 have been planned to do...Look like MS will release there camera earlier and grab the glory...If you seen the plans and the tech video that demonstrate what the Eye toy 2 does, you will have a much clearer understanding.

This is no gimmick your all just thinking to slow, like what optaviusx said for poker it is such a good idea because the whole point of poker is to read the faces of ur opponent of course some ppl will abuse it but thats to be expected and why not enjoy it :)

I was talking to a friend, and I was told that Gears of War will also use this technology...and Gears of War will also use some sort of technology where all of the most common words and names will be in the game using some sort of lip-sync technology; that way, when you say something, the character you design will have lips that look like it is being said when you are playing with your friends in multi-player online. I think it is cool that Xbox 360 games have features like this!
