Clancy Games Coming To Wii Says Ubisoft >
2008/09/18 11:46:09: Posted by DM
Ubisoft Boss Yves Guillemot has stated in an interview with Gamedaily that Tom Clancy games will be making their way to the Nintendo Wii. Ubisoft apparently wants to make sure that the games both play and look good, he stated. It will be interesting to see how Ubisoft makes Clancy games fun using the motion control.

"We have engines that were created for the next-generation consoles. We had to re-engineer a certain number of engines to be sure we could use the quality of the machine. Even without the [high-end] graphics, the experience can still be very interesting," he continued.

I don't understand why they don't just use the last gen UE2 engines for the Wii Clancy games. They worked fine on the xbox and looked better than 90% of the Wii games out now.

Sounds like it would be more work to re-engineer current gen engines for the Wii than to optimize and upgrade a last gen engine.

They'll sale six copies. There is no reason to multiplat titles like the RB6's of the world to the Wii.

Xenos, you have a lot more faith in the Wii than I thought you'd ever have. Despite the Wii's huge install base, it has proven to be a massive failure for 3rd parties.

I think it partly is b/c they put out crap, but it's also partly due to the fact that gamers (non-casual) probably own an additional console or PC along with the Wii. There is no reason to buy a watered down version of RB6 for the Wii when you can get better versions on the other three platforms. Throw in the fact that the storage problem is a major problem and the online setup is a joke, and you have a recipe for failure for these franchises.

But what do I know? I have been wrong on the Wii since before it launched. It's still a mystery to me that this machine has survived, much less thrive.

lol I hear yah man, but I wouldn't call 3rd parties a massive failure on the Wii. Games like RB3 have sold better on the Wii than the ps3/360. Also since the tech has matured so far, games usually only need to sell a fraction of it's high-end counterparts to reach a profit.

Regarding the clancy games, or any game for that matter. I agree that the better version will usually be on the ps3/360, but that's why they should just make off shoots or spin offs for the Wii. It would be great to have a different game to experience within the same universe.

lol @ graphics-centric gamers perpelexed at the success of Wii. Proof that they dont understand gaming at all.

Not to mention that the R6 games are but a shadow of what they used to be ...

He does have a point though, the changes made to the R6 series really has downgraded the core mechanics the game is supposed to be based on.
