PRESS RELEASE

With week one sales out the door, Codemasters is proud to announce that DiRT™, the company’s critically acclaimed new racing title, has exceeded expectations across the board. If DiRT’s early review score of 9/10 from Official Xbox Magazine (U.S.) wasn’t any indication, Codemasters is now reporting that week one sales of the game have surpassed 500K copies globally, and the playable demos for the Xbox 360™ video game entertainment system from Microsoft and the PC have been downloaded over 500K times worldwide.

Codemasters’ DiRT Sales Top 500k in First Week - Title Earns Top-Selling Spot on Xbox 360

According to www.VGChartz.com, the title’s early sales performance has landed DiRT in the number one spot on the Xbox 360 charts in North America, and additionally has placed it in the top five games of the week globally across all platforms.

“This success with DiRT is a text-book case of our product development, marketing and distribution efforts all working together to ignite consumer interest and drive sales,” said Rod Cousens, CEO, Codemasters. “Nearly half of our first week’s sales are from the U.S. alone, which means momentum behind this series is taking hold in new territories.”

DiRT is currently available at retail outlets nationwide for the Xbox 360 videogame and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PC. The PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system edition will be available later this year. Additionally, the playable demos of DiRT are readily available for download - the Xbox 360 version from Xbox LIVE® Marketplace, and the PC version from www.codemasters.com/dirt. DiRT is rated “E” (Everyone - Mild Language, Mild Violence, Alcohol Reference) by the ESRB. For more information on DiRT, be sure to visit the official website at www.codemasters.com/dirt.

I have played both Forza 2 and Dirt, and both of them have amazing graphics and are amazingly fun to play! The best thing about having both of them to play is trying to figure out which one you want to play, and then knowing you will be able to play the other one afterwards!

Both of those games have received excellent reviews. So, no matter which one you end up getting, you can't go wrong. But one thing I can tell you is if you only end up getting one of them, you are making the wrong decision. If you like this style of racing game, you NEED both of them, because they are BOTH awesome!

I hear my steering wheel calling my name! That thing is BY FAR the best steering wheel EVER! The force feedback with the wheel is incredible!

I love Forza, and honestly I don't care about this news. The game could sell a million copies, it's not something I'm even interested in playing beyond the demo.

I have both Forza and DiRT as well. I'm really enjoying DiRT, but I'm concerned about its longevity. According to the in-game stats, I've played the game a little over an hour and I'm 25% through with the single-player mode. I've played online and wasn't impressed. Also, there are no tweaks or modifcations in DiRT. You just purchase the car and that's it.

Forza on the other hand has really impressed me. Realistic physics, can customize the car extensively, and the online play is a blast.

If you can only purchase one, I suggest Forza if you're really into sim racers. If you're into arcade racers, get Need For Speed. As for DiRT... it's a rental IMO.

I've played all the next-gen racers available. DiRT, Forza 2 and Flatout 2. They're all amazing experiences but I'm more focused on Forza 2 since it's the only one with split-screen multiplayer, which kinda sucks since my friends come over all the time. But if I were to rate the games, Forza 2would have the most depth, DiRT has best graphics, Flatout is most enjoyable/entertaining arcade racer.
