DiRT PS3 Dev Interview, Native Engine Support, Demo Coming >
2007/07/12 10:19:08: Posted by DM
Those of you who held off buying the fantastic title DiRT for the Xbox360 ma be in luck. According to the devloper's interview over at Gamespot, the PS3 version of DiRT will not only play better, but look better as well. The game was apparently initially developed using a core Playstation 3 engine. This means, of course, that the game should look even more fantastic than it does now on 360 when it hits shelves later this year for PS3, around November. This one may just be worth a total replay, folks.

It'll look the same as the PC version does on ultra - if that. They'll probably improve on physics and particle effects more than anything. The PC version requires an 8 series to play on those sort of settings and the PS3 only has a 7900 or so.

Why will it play better? Sorry I can't see the link. The game looks amazing on the 360, if they can clean up the frame rate issues, that would be great.

@Limey

PS3 to be the 'best' edition of DiRT. Better framerate, 7.1 uncompressed surround sound, PS3 specific optimization to take advantage of the system's hardware, support for third party steering wheels, even older ones like those that were released for PS2.

Here's a quote:

"PS3 looks fantastic compared to the 360. We think it's the slimmer, healthy, younger brother version of DiRT, the framerate's better."

September release date.

This is obviously PR spin by a person Sony hired to go undercover at Codemasters to say this for E3. No way anything is better than Microsoft...not even sex.

I doubt money is really the case here. If it were, DiRT would have been released at least simultaneously on both consoles. This is just a matter of having more time to fix bugs and improve game. Now, if they were to add PROPER multiplayer mode, THAT would be money talks.
