The lack of games is what is hurting the Playstation 3 the most.

And in all honesty, the "lack of games" isn't the only factor.

The fact that such a huge number of games on the Playstation 3 also appear on the Xbox 360, and are either noticably or significantly better on the Xbox 360, for a lower cost, are what make it so the Playstation 3 is not something that consumers are interested in.

Now i will agree with Blueray movies which is crap but Blueray disc is important due to storage space, since slowly developers are saying less storage !

In North American and Europe, the Xbox 360 outsells the Playstation 3 by hundreds of thousands of systems each month.

In September, the Xbox 360 actually outsold the Wii for the first month in 2007; although, the Xbox 360 did outsell the combined sales of the Wii and PS3 during the Holiday season of 2006. Playstation 3 was, as usual, a very distant third place in terms of worldwide sales for the month...which means that the Playstation 3 continues to fall behind in terms of Sales.



As far as games go, PS3 gets many of the same games that other systems do, such as the games from EA Sports and 2K Sports...However, the Playstation 3 versions are not the best version. That honor belongs to the Xbox 360. In the videogame industry it is common to get a higher level of quality for less money. The perfect example is Unreal Tournament 3. UT3 is going to cost less on the PC, and it will be best on the PC. It's the same way with the overwhelming majority of multi-platform games; they are either noticably better or significantly better on the Xbox 360...and they often cost less on the Xbox 360, because by the time the PS3 versons are released the Xbox 360 versions have become "Best-Sellers" for less money.

Sony Is going to make MS start sweating now that they release a system with Blu-ray Wifi, and free internet gaming all for $400. I don't think they could answer that with Arcade and its bullshit 256MB card.

on topic, Kotaku.com has had a post recently wondering which will come with the Arcade version. 5 full arcade games, 5 arcade demos(which will suck), or both? nothing has been confirmed =P

I think Microsoft needs to respond with thier own price drop.

Arcade:$199.00 That should counter the Wii

Premium:$299.00 That should counter the 40GB PS3

Elite:$399.00 That should counter the 60GB/80GB PS3.



Last weeks VGChartz numbers. PS3 outsold 360 in Eu and Japn. But the large marging the 360 had over the PS3 still gave it the advantage worldwide.

Guys lets be real.. how would MS answer to PS3 40GB?? Blu-ray is picking up.. PS3 is about to use all 7SPE as legs to run and catch up with 360 sales and Wii sales..

I think it is pathetic the way that VG Chartz does not list Europe as an individual market, but they list Japan.

Also, I think it is VERY DISTURBING that VG Chartz lists sales in such a disturbing way...Remember, they had the Xbox 360 listed at 11.5 million at one point, then it dropped to 10 million. And in just one week's time the PS3 went from 3 million to over 4 million, due to the fact that Sony decided to change their definition of the word "Sold."



Also, in the month of September, the Xbox 360 sold 450,000 systems...that should have propelled the number past 12 million on their charts...but it didn't...why is that??? Like I said before, and I know you noticed it, too...VG Chartz seems fishy, because their Weekly info doesn't add up to accurate Totals as the Months go by.

Someone needs to tell VG Chartz that the European market is much bigger than Japan. Japan represents less than 15% of the home console market now.

It's not a surprise that the PS3 experienced a spike in sales in Europe due to the price drop. Hopefully this will cause a reaction by Microsoft to do the same. I think that both the Xbox 360 and PS3 are greatly overpriced in some of those regions...I think those are the areas where the Xbox 360 Arcade system will be a big factor, because many of those areas don't have high-speed Internet access anyways...they will just want the less expensive unit to play all the new games like Halo 3, Bioshock, and Mass Effect.

Until you guys can find a more credible more accurate source for sales numbers I go to VGChartz on a weekly basis. Thats how I know my sales figures.Thats how I know that the Wii and Ps3 arent selling very well in Japn in the past month. Wii used to be close to 100,000 a week, now its down to 20,000 a week. in EU as a whole collective territory the 360 has been beating the PS3 in sales consistently. Thats how I know when PS3 fanboys say the 360 only sells in the US that they are spreading FUD. Follow the charts, you would be surprised. I hvae no issue with the PS3 having a sales spike. I just doubt they will sustain it. As for Microsofts response. I think it's time they rdeuced their price thats all they can really do. I dont think game bundles work. People look at the price tag first am I right???

Depends on the bundle. If it's a game people want, then it helps. I'm sure the Halo 3/360 bundle will sell a lot to people who were planning on buying the console and Halo 3 anyway. But for a bundle SKU to do well, it has to be a game that appeals to a wide audience. Tha'ts why I never understood game bundles with NHL '0x games, unless you have a similar bundle with different game choices.

madgunde: I agree. The bundle has to be a game that people want. Btu I dont thing we would see Sony or Microsoft bundle a game that can sell on its own. Halo 3 will sell for a long time.Same with Gears, its still selling. I can understand Sony bundling Motorstorm since it got decent reviews and showcases some good graphics. But Motorstorm was selling as well as RFOM so it was a no brainer. Plus I understand that RFOM and Motorstorm have veen bundled in EU for a while with the 60BP PS3.

I want to see how well the 40GB $400.00 PS3 does in the US. Or if a cheaper PS3 in Japan will help the PS3 outperfom the Wii.
