...Hey, after 2 years and three major updates, Blu-ray is now ALMOST as good as HD-DVD.

It's a shame that Sony's $900 Blu-ray players don't have the ability to receive firmware updates, so they are just inferior pieces of expensive hardware forever. Those people were just plain screwed by Sony.

actualy Krogan I said the same thing but you know what, if you think about it, that was a smart move,

they didn't bother till they won officially, now they can spend moremoney and do a bit more investment, rather than HD DVD, they lost 900 million dollar altogether, but if they did a simple player, they can probably cut at least 10 percent,

In another word they did all that work for nothing ...

but to be honest with you, I shouldn't talk like that either, because technically, HD DVD won, but after michal bay commment on MS with HD DVD, Warner went on the other side, thats where HD DVD lost even though they were better

blacktiger: I love how you get all excited about a console you don't even own :p however this is good news for those who use thier PS3's as Blu-Ray movie players.

Actually HD-DVD lost because Blu-Ray always had more movie studio support and a larger install base because of the PS3. Not because some idiot who ruined the Transformer movie was talking shit. If anybody believes Micael Bay turned the tide of the HD movie format war they are a certified dumbass. SERIOUSLY. I always joke about things I say on here. But what you just said was beyond stupid. It's hard enough to decipher your typing on here, I would rather try to translate the other BS you usually post than this garbage.

Please dont ever try to claim that HD-DVD was ever winning. It was hopeless from the time Blu-Ray was announced. Now if Toshiba owned a few movie studios like Sony does, then that would have been different. The only chance HD-DVD ever had was to co-exist with Blu-Ray. I say this even if Warner Bros had gone exclusive to HD-DVD.

Was HD-DVD superior: YES.

Was Blu-RAY always going to win: YES. Because of the PS3, Sony owning movie studios, and paying for exclusitivity from others. Plus Blu-Rays marketing was superior. Even my wife liked Blu-Ray's packaging and name better. Sony is better at marketing thany any of it's competitors. Thats why they won.

okay PimpDaddy ! your the moron of all the idiots ! Michael Bay comment did affect the industry,

Dont be like Krogan and think your always right, ppl will comment, nobody knows how Blu ray won, Actually HD DVD won so many times, because even Blu ray had more support, HD DVD had way more exclusive movies,

But after Warner Bros. everyone moved day by day, if you think PS3 did the whole job then thats you,

But don't og like an idiot and flaming like kroganato !

Oh I got a PS3 for my birthday March 20th, and I love it !

Now you wana act like a kid who's dumb then jsut go look at the mirror i think that should help.

and your wife liking blu ray is just like another customer dumbass !!!!!!!!

blacktiger: Look your the dumbass acting like 1 guy, who happens to be a movie director, comments on his blog and turns the tide of the HD movie format war. That is the stupidest thing I have heard on this site. EVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER!!!!!

The PS3 had 10 million Blu-Ray players in homes by itself plus another 1 million stand alone players compared to 1 million HD-DVD players. Do the math ass clown. Thats an 11:1 ratio in favor of Blu-Ray.

So Blu-Ray was squashing HD-DVD in install base.

By the time Warner Bros switched to become Blu-Ray exclusive the amount of exclusive movies was pretty much dead even between both formats. Plus Time Warner was always nuetral. They held the biggest hand as far as influence because they had the largest movie library.

Do you know WTF flaming is??? I'm not flaming. Krogan's my friend but dont ever compare his style to mine.

BlackTiger anybody can read both of our posts and conclude that I actually paid attention and provide facts. Not just some worthless totally incorrect opinion like your Michael Bay conspiracy theory.

Michael Bays comments didnt even make sense. The picture quality and sound quality on Transformers was the same. Only difference was that a 50GB Blu-Ray disc had room for uncompressed HD sound. The problem is you need a really expensive home surround system that nobody on this forum can afford to listen to the movie using the uncompressed sound format.

So basically Michael Bay was bitching because he was loging out on royalties from Blu-Ray movies sales. So he can eat a d!ck. He had his own agenda. The only saving grace for Transformers was casting Megan Fox as the resident hottie. Anybody that grew up with the original Transformer cartoons and toys like I did was appalled by his movie.

I use my wife as a reference because she represents the average casual consumer. You know the 90% of consumers that is uneducated about electronics, performance, cost, etc... who will impulse buy because they like the marketing. The name brand. The color, etc...

My point is that Sony did a hell of a job marketing Blu-Ray and deserve the victory. I don't like Sony, thier BS trojan horse tactics with the PS3, false marketing, and dumbass PR. But I give them props for defeating the superior format. It's not how you win, but the fact that you win at all. That is why I will be buying a 2nd PS3 at the end of the year. BLU-RAY!!!!!
