No Third-Party Movie Companies Signed For PS3 Downloads Yet >
2008/06/27 11:03:44: Posted by DM
According to Variety, Sony has not signed any third-party movie companies yet to provide content for the PS3 movie download service that was announced yesterday. Sony Pictures does have a decent movie selection to begin the service with, so it is not necessary at this point, but eventually Sony is going to need third-party support to keep on par with MS.

"Sources at numerous major studios confirmed to me that while they have all talked to Sony, none have yet made a deal. The only one that's definitely on board so far is, for obvious reasons, Sony Pictures," writes Variety reporter Ben Fritz.

Obviously none, because Blu Ray is doing such a amazing job, infact it's selling 5 times more than DVD ever did !

So no Online Distribution is going down again !

Infact anyone can purchase Blu Ray movies and then rip it off !

WTF are you talking about now. Blu-Ray sold 5 times as much as DVD ever did??? Your worse than Dudeman spreading FUD. Explain your self... Blu-Ray is limping along. I have already shown how DVD sold more movies in it's first year than Blu-Ray did in it's first 2 years here in the US. And the funny thing is that DVD only sold 1 million stand alone players in it's first year and didn't have the advantage Blu-Ray did of being trojan horsed into every PS3.

Yesterday you said Online distribution was the future and today it's not??? WTF???

I actually took a look at that link, and all I see is a forward looking statement in regards to Western Europe. In essence, it's a prediction.

Blacktiger, your immaturity simply amazes me. Why in the world parents would let their pre-teens surf about the internet unsupervised is well beyond me...

blacktiger: You said "Obviously none, because Blu Ray is doing such a amazing job, infact it's selling 5 times more than DVD ever did " Where in your article you linked does it claim this anywhere??? All it talks about is Blu-Ray players including(PS3) vs DVD hardware. You want to compare 10 million Blu-Ray players vs 1.5 million DVD players in 3 years time from launch fine. State hardware and be specific next time d!ckhead. I was talking about movie sales. Dont say "ever" Because DVD has sold more than Blu-Ray has "ever" sold to date in terms of hardware/movies/discs.

How is it that DVD movies were adopted at a much higher rate than Blu-Ray movies even though thanks to the PS3 Blu-Ray hardware adoption is much better??? Could it be because DVD was a gigantic leap from VHS that didnt require brand new HDTV's and 7.1 HD sound for the optimum viewing experience. Could it be that Blu-Ray movies are too expensive. Could it be that most people dont use thier PS3's to watch movies or play games. Rather they had to get it because it had the name Sony Playstation on it, realised it blew a$$, and let it collect dust.

Also need I remind you that according to VGChartz tracking at the end of last week Metal Gear Solid had only sold 1.8 million to date. Halo 3 sold more than that on the first day. Also Ps3 sales have returned to normal levels after the bundles sold out. In fact the 360 outsold the PS3 again last week in the US. So go back to MGS4 and wait b3yond for you supposed next system seller. Where the f*ck is Dudeman so I can laugh at him and the rest of the SDF. Saying this game or that game is a system seller. GTFO. I have been saying this all along that neither the PS3 or 360 is going to sell well till they hit a mass market price. Anybody who owns one right now is either an early adopter with disposable income or a hardcore gamer with disposable income. Why do you think the Wii is outselling both of them combined. Mass Market price and innovative controls/games.

im not siding with anyone but ui will say vgchartz is completely and totally not reliable #s.. so much so that they are being scrutinized now by places like NPD etc to find out just where they got their #s
Written by PimpDaddy on 2008/06/28

DM: I know DM. But usually it's because VGChartz over tracks on all it's numbers across the board. So in all actuality MGS4 sales are porbably lower than 1.8 million as of last week. I have been trying to tell the SDF force that MGS4 is not some game that the masses are gong to buy, or make the masses want to buy a PS3. It has a hardcore following and thats why it sold very well the first day and sold out of it's bundles. Now were seeing that it doesn't have the staying power of a Halo 3, GTA 4, or a COD 4. ALso just so everybody knows NPS isn't accurate either. Last time I checked they left out about 10 percent of the reatilaers in North america. One of those retailers is Wal Mart. So all we can rely on is the numbers provided to the public because only these software companies and hardware manufacturers know the true numbers...

Anyways I brought VGChartz up because it make for good flamming.

Edit: I meant NPD.
