The Gotham Career mode is where you will be completing all of the events that will help you to unlock all the cars in the game. There are both online and offline career modes. The offline career mode is exactly what you would expect. You compete in races, slalom navigations, and other tests of skill to earn Kudos and money. The online career mode is a bit more involved. The best way we can describe it is if you image all the AI players in the single player career mode were actual Xbox Live players. You play similar events as the offline career mode, except the competition is real! It is a great way to practice and increase your TrueSkill rating at the same time. The leader board section in the career mode will show the top racers on all of Xbox Live in the Solo Career, Online Career, Race Against The Clock and Test Track modes. You can also view all the cars you own by visiting your garage. The garage is also where you can play the original Geometry Wars game and the new Geometry Wars Retro Evolved game. Unfortunately if you want to play the new Evolved Geo Wars you will have to purchase it on Xbox Live Marketplace. Otherwise you have a 5 minute limit on play. Disappointing considering you are already paying $50 dollars for the game.

In the Playtime section is where you will be doing most of your multiplayer gaming. You can play locally with 2 players, split screen. One thing that made this a bit complicated is that you have to have the second player sign into Xbox Live as a guest of you or as their own account before you can play 2 players split screen. If you do not have 2 profiles signed in your Xbox then you cannot play split screen. Also remember to go back to solo single player you will have to sign out the second profile with the second control pad. It gets a bit annoying to be totally honest. In the Playtime mode you can also play system link and Xbox Live, both modes support 8 racers at once. In the multiplayer mode your opponents names are displayed about their respective cars, which can get a tad hard to read if all the cars are bunched up in an 8 car pileup (which has happened once or twice and we all had a good laugh). You can also race against the clock and visit the route creator in this mode. Race against the clock is pretty self explanatory, and the route creator is very simple to use. Keep in mind when creating a route you can only choose from Tokyo, Las Vegas, New York, and London. Nurburgring is not available.




The Gotham TV section is where Bizarre really turns PGR3 into an online community. It is exactly what the name implies. You can watch Project Gotham races from some of the world’s best racers on the Gotham Heroes channel. Once you pick the race you want to watch and it loads, you can select any of the regular behind or inside the car views of any car in the race, plus 2 spectator mode views. It is a ton of fun if you care about that sort of thing and if you need to watch PGR racing done correctly, this is the place to go. No shortage of things you can learn from watching the best of the best. In the friends channel section of Gotham TV you can watch races that your Xbox Live friends are racing. Not really useful unless you know of a specific race going on or are one of those Xbox Live social butterflies that has a full friends list. You can also watch your own replays in the Gotham TV section, and use the Photo Editor. The photo editor is where you can take pictures of you cars and use a rudimentary photo editor to tweak the images. Nice if you want to show off but not that useful since in PGR3 you cannot customize you cars as much as some other racing games out there.

The achievements section of the main menu is where you can view all of your various accomplishments. Trophies, badges, cars you own, your overall stats, the leaderboards (same leaderboards in the playtime section), and all the achievements recorded on the actual Xbox360 unit you are playing on.
