EA Strips FIFA 360 Again, 07 Has 7 Leagues, PS2 Has 28 >
2006/09/19 9:56:46: Posted by DM
It seems EA has left the next-gen FIFA players out in the cold yet again. The Xbox360 version of FIFA 07 will include just 7 leageus, where are the Playstation 2 version will feature 28. On top of that, the XBox360 version will feature just 21 stadiums, while the PS2 version will have almost 50. The Xbox360 version will feature some exclusive stadiums, but that is hardly any consolation.

Saying that the 360 has exclusice content (stadiums) is misleading; essentially, all the stadiums that 360 are missing are exclusive to PS2 and visa versa.

EA will probably try to sell you more stadiums (with advertising included) via XBL...its keeps interest in the game going by 'offering NEW content. This has Madden '06 written all over it.
Written by Nemesis IX (371) on 2006/09/19

yeah EA will probally sell the leagues and stadiums on live.
Written by Walkin (118) on 2006/09/19

This kind of crap is unacceptable. I wish there was more we could do besides not buying the game.

WHY JUST WHY DOES EA WANT TO SCREW US (xbox 360 owners)WHY WERE THE ONES WHO ARE PAYING THE EXTRA 20 $ HERE THEY SCREW US IN MADDEN AND FIFA 06 AND NBA AND NOW THIS SCREW U EA I AINT BUYING THIS CRAB AGAIN $%#^ YOU ea
Written by lumo (14) on 2006/09/19

actually it looks like 6 leagues and juventus, serie B has an asterisk sayin only juventus from that league is used. for me its not a problem, i only really play as or against teams from premier league, seria a, bundesliga or spanish primera, but i think there are many who would be very upset that the next gen version is so sparse

I hate the EA sports games. They can't even port it over right.
Written by Itaintrite on 2006/09/19

Haha, so much for "exclusivity" :P
Written by MAKAVELI on 2006/09/19

one more reason to hate crapy shit came from EA sports, VIVA lo PES.

i probally would of got pro evo anyway but this definitely solidifies my decision.

why care?

if you like this game it questions your common sense. Its all about pes6 or winning elevn 10.
Written by kidkit on 2006/09/19

The lack of stadiums kind of makes sense, it would take a lot of art work time to make them in higher resolution yada yada... but aren't the leagues and players just spreadsheet data? Camman... weak!

Microsoft is not the ones who should be blamed for this...the company that needs to be blamed is Electronic Arts. Look at what EA is going to accomplish by doing this:

1. All of the people who love Soccer and own an Xbox 360 will obviously want to buy the Xbox 360 version of the game because it uses the brand new graphics engine made specifically for the FIFA series on the Xbox 360. Plus, you will be able to hear the Xbox 360 version of the game in 5.1 digital sound that is amazing!

2. Due to the fact that EA didn't have time to create graphic models of all of the stadiums for each team using the new high-definition graphics engine, EA just decided to leave out some of the less popular teams. This means that fans of those less popular teams will end up being interested in the PS2 version of the game. In fact, many people may actually buy BOTH versions of the game...which is something that EA will like very much!

EA will make more money by using this strategy. I think that was want they wanted to do from the beginning.

Way to be idiotic fanboys and blame this on Microsoft as if they have something to do with it..

EA built the entire game from the ground up I much rather they take their time with the rest than force them in there without making the necessary adjustments. They will be in 2008 and this game is still going to be awesome.

AWESOME my ass

Hahaa...so, the PS3 is going to have the best version of FIFA '07 after all!

you just explained exclusive content fruity lol

Again stop with the fanboy comments.. you guys know how fast EA releases new iterations to their titles. I don't think they had enough time to properly setup EVERY single player with their new ai system based on real life player tendacies do you have any idea how many characters that would be? I wouldn't want to see over 300 ronaldinhos. For example girard from england's national team likes to take a lot of long shots in real life and this remains true in fifa 07.

If one wanted to be ridiculous fanboys I'd go and make a big deal that tony hawk project 8 for the ps3 wont have online play. "OMG 360 to have best version of tph8 aferall!" Yea fruity defining exclusive smart guy.

Your input is just has bad... ^^

I dont blame MS for this totally....but they are providing the vechile, as in the Xbox360 and Xbox Live service to allow for this type of exploitation...

So go figure...

Ricour explained that the demands of the sheer volume of players (6,000 in next-gen vs. 20,000 in current-gen) coupled with FIFA 07's revamped attribute system has taken considerable amounts of the team's time.

So what's new about the attribute system?

"A system evaluates how well you play the game and how well your players are performing. Based on how those players are played, you will earn points to spend at the end of the game," Ricour said. If a player had an exceptional game of defense, using FIFA 07's RPG-style system, players will be able to spend some of those points to increase the player's defensive attributes.

In addition to this, players have one of 45 traits assigned to them, these traits could include things like "player shoots from long range with right foot" -- the players' actions incorporate these traits.

Ricour discussed the brand new engine that EA built for FIFA 07. The two previous FIFA games Road to the World Cup and FIFA World Cup Germany both used current-gen assets upscaled to the 360 hardware, not so with FIFA 07. The game's all new engine includes changes like "There were three places on the boot [shoe] in current-gen where we monitored the ball and its interactions, in next-gen there are over 100 points on the boot that the engine is tracking," Ricour said.

Instead of using assets and manpower to port two FIFA titles to the 360 (one for launch), why not use the hours on focusing on the flagship brand -- FIFA 07?

"We'd been working on the engine -- but until we knew the specs of Xbxo 360 and PS3, we couldn't really get moving," Ricour said. "We definitely wanted to do a World Cup game -- a World Cup game is a bit more mass market and we wanted to supplement the FIFA mothership with a World Cup game."

There is the reason. People always complain about EA not putting proper time into their games well they finally did and gave us a NEW soccer game that isn't just a port of the current gen versions and people complain :)
Written by belfio (1) on 2006/09/20

instead of petty complaints, why don't we all stick to pro evo soccer 6? EA is based in Canada: no wonder they will never provide a competitive soccer game...they should focus on hockey!!! I am not going to buy their next fifa 2007...they are at least loosing my $120!!!!!

EA need to look after their customers more and spend time making the game equal on all consoles people dont spend £100's of pounds on a new console so they can get the best out of gaming and get better quality games when they screwed ova like this it jus says y didnt i stay with an earlier console
Written by gialaniz (1) on 2006/10/20

well how the hell do any of you know this crap do you really think the ea is gonna risk losing millions on something so petty well until the 36o version comes out then i will complain because fifa 06 the wc on had a crap load of stadiums so you really cant be to sure just yet until you play it then juged it,

I've been reading the comments, and while I've only played a demo of Fifa07 (360) I can say that the people slating it in favour of PES are wrong.. I've been a fan of PES since the N64 days, but the most recent version leans even further than EA's offering towards Sony. At least EA are trying to come up with better stuff for next-gen, all I got for my £40 (~$80) was a copy of a game which you can't even save a replay in (despite the manual stating otherwise). I'm getting a refund and trying Fifa07 out, until PES can sort itself out. :)
