2008/03/26 17:40:19: Posted by DM
According to Videogaming247, Polyphony Digital Boss Kazanori Yamauchi has revealed that car damage animations and physics are on the way to the GT series. This info came on the the eve of the release of GT: Prologue in Europe, but he did not specify when exactly this damage additin would come. He did say that PSN delivery would play an important role in the GT series in the future though, so it may come as an update.

“We really, really want to put damage onto our vehicles,” he said, speaking in a video interview you can find after the link. “We’ve had a lot of discussions with the manufacturers and although at the beginning they hated the idea of deformation, now they’re slowly coming around to it. We’ve still got a few to convince, but we will. Expect deformation in the very near future: very, very soon.”

I can't believe this, please can somebody tell me how many race games now feature damage modeling? Forza2, Dirt, Grid, PGR4. He makes it seem like something new, when clearly it is not. GT5 needs to move with the times and get up to speed with what the rest of the industry is achieving in their absence.

All of the new features GT5 is promising are in most race games already and according to IGN GT5 has moved to 2009.

Maybe Polyphony should not have wasted valuable development time on GT prologue, but like most others I will be there with my $40.00 on launch day to grab my copy.

Polyphony also announced Today that the actual Gran Turismo 5 game would NOT be released by the end of 2008.

Previously, GT5 was scheduled to be released for late 2008, but it has now been confirmed that GT5 is at least one year away from now, which means we won't see it until the spring or summer of 2009 for the Playstation 3.

Plus, the developers at Polyphony have been known to lie before. Remember all the promises they made for GT4 that never happened. GT5 likely won't have car damage.
