Guitar Hero Dev Mocks Rock Band Cymbals >
2008/08/28 12:50:20: Posted by DM
No matter what, there will always be some measure of animosity between the Guitar Hero guys and the Rock Band team. It is just one of those things, folks. To that end, the devs at Guitar Hero, who are currently finalizing designing their drum peripheral, have called out Harmonix for their plan to release clip-on cymbals for Rock Band set-ups. Let the games begin, so to speak.

"I've a feeling there was a: 'Oh s***! There's cymbals! How can we put cymbals on our kit?' That would be the easiest way without having to rewire everything and re-engineer the entire circuit board."

How is this a signal for aanimosity?

That's probably how it really happened.

The GH crew should probably work on their presentation and animation before they start talking smack. The only + GH3 had over RB was the superior guitar strum. In every other department, RB was better than GH. Sure, the drum layout is kinda lame, but it worked just fine and was my favorite part of playing RB. I couldn't go back to GH b/c of how lame everything looked and the sub par music offering.

That said, I do like the GH4 drumset, and I'll probably get rid of the RB drums to get them. Lets hope that GH4 sees better musical support than GH3 did.

The difference in presentation is due to GH using real time stages and characters while RB uses pre-recorded video played behind the real time musical notes.

It still looked like @$$ in comparison. The characters on RB looked far > than the stiff 3 characters found on GH3.

I think the drummer on GH3 had no elbows. He looked like one of those cymbal clashing toy monkeys.

I agree as I wasn't saying you were wrong really, just explaining to why RB looks better than GH.

Besides, RB2 has announced that they'll have Stevie Ray Vaughn's entire "Texas Flood" album available for download. That is as bad @$$ as it gets imho.

The guitar that came with RockBand was absolutly the most pathetic peice of hardware i've ever used. Thank god the Guitar Hero guitar worked with RockBand other wise i'd only pay the drums. (I can't sing)

I can't sing either, but I still do. On some songs, I sing and play guitar at the same time...as long as there is no cowbell/tamberine.
