The tracks that you can race vary from real world place to real world place, including Giza, Barcelona, MT. Rushmore, and more. The catch is, most of the race tracks are more or less identical, with a few local monuments thrown in. Moscow is the notable exception, as the track there is covered with snow, which regrettably makes the steering control even more unresponsive. Spaced throughout the race are a few power up items, speed up items and nitro boosts are the usual plusses, but there are attack items here and there. The speed boosts are really the most important though, as almost every vehicle performs the same despite the difference in stats. Just pick the vehicle that you prefer staring at the backside of and use that for the entire game. Trust me; it will make you happier in the end than picking the truck with the “best” stats. Besides the arcade racing mode Monster 4X4 World Circuit really offers nothing much. There are no other modes worth mentioning unfortunately. The game might have been saved the low score with an online mode, but as most of you already know, the early Wii titles do not have online play. The game itself certainly had potential, which is the most disappointing part. If the graphics were up to Excite Truck level, and the game play was beefed up a bit by trucks with much different stats, and the tracks were spruced up with much better graphics and more challenging twists and turns, the title could have been a winner. For now though, we recommend you rent this title only if you are totally out of other Wii games to play, and if you bought this game already, keep the steering wheel and trade in the rest. |
