In a recent blog update over at 1UP, one of the editors posted pictures of his copy of God Of War, which he received early. The thing is, one of the snapshots had an image of the back cover of one of the game's booklets. On that back cover was a teaser ad for God Of War PSP. The image has since been removed, but do not fear folks, we have obtained a copy for you. Click the link to see for yourself.

PRESS RELEASE

LONDON, England — Feb. 28, 2007 - Capcom®, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today announced Monster Hunter Freedom 2 for the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system. Monster Hunter has quickly become one of the most remarkable and successful series for Capcom, with sales in excess of 2.4 million units worldwide. Capcom’s previously released Monster Hunter Portable was a runaway hit, becoming Japan’s top selling title for the PSP system, with an attach rate of about one game sold for every five systems in the country. Monster Hunter Portable 2nd has just released in Japan and is already well on its way to surpassing the previous title with remarkable initial shipment numbers. Capcom plans to release this game as Monster Hunter Freedom 2 across PAL territories in September 2007.

We would never expect a store to publically badmouth one brand over another since competition means more money, but apparently that is just what EBGames did. In this ad that is floating around the net, they advertise that you can trade in 'the past,' (PSP, old DS, Gameboy SP) for 'the future,' (Nintendo DS Lite). We think Sony may not be too happy about this. Click the link for the ad image. (Thanks, TSE)

The manufacturer used by Gamestop and EB Games Canada for replacement PSP faceplates (yes, Canada GS/EB apparently do not use Sony official faces) are finally introducing thier own product line. What makes them different from other third party PSP faceplate manufactures is that the plates are manufactured using a dual injection mold procedure. This leads to a stronger, better looking, more reliable product that is on par with the original Sony part. With both a Twin Dragons and Hell Skull design now available, and many more on the way, our friends over at CamyProGear certainly seem to be on the fast track to the "it" list!

According to Meritstation, Ready At Dawn may be working on a PSP version of God of War. This is according to a Sony inside source, and of course goes into the rumor mill for now. It certainly sounds like a Sony move though.

Why Sony is denying games like the Frequency sequel and a new music game called Traxion for the PSP is beyond us, but according to a conversation IGN recently had with Harmonix, the team behind Frequency, this is just what Soy is doing. Apparently Harmonix proposed a sequel to Frequency and Amplitude on the handheld, but SOny gave it the veto. On top of that the other music game heading to the PSP by Lucasarts, Traxion, has also been axed. This game would have even allowed players to import their own music. All we can think of is that Sony wants these titles for the PS3 store to help sell systems.
