No Japan Xbox360 Virtua Fighter 5 Release? >
2007/08/29 10:25:35: Posted by DM
According to GI, Sega may be considering skipping the Xbox360 release of Virtua Fighter 5 in Japan. GI claims this is due to the low installed base of users overseas. Lead Designer Tohru Murayama said "it's true" that the Xbox360 has proved none too popular in Japan. Rumor mill for now.

"We haven't decided if we'll release Virtua Fighter 5 in Japan because of that. "But if we [can only release the game] for the US or EU markets, we just hope Virtua Fighter 5 will be a key title which encourages people to buy Xbox 360s."

When a game is developed for a hardware platform, then that game NEEDS to be released in all parts of the world...ESPECIALLY the one and only market where the system hasn't sold well.

Microsoft, you always claim that "Content," is the reason why the Xbox 360 is #1 in North America, Europe, and the overall world...If you want the Xbox 360 to do the best it can in Japan, then you had BETTER MAKE SURE that VF5 is released in Japan!!!

Otherwise, it is business suicide...and I think this would be reason to fire EVERYONE associated with the Xbox 360 in Japan.

Them not releasing in Japan is a business decision. It's Sega, not MS. Should MS fire the Japanese people for not buying the 360?

Oh, and the 360 isn't #1 in the world anymore either. The Wii took that monikor last week.

Don't take your life over it though, it's only consoles.

Well I dont blame Sega. Considering last time I checked the PS3 worldwide sales of this game on VGCHARTZ that this game barely sold over 200,000 copies worldwide for the PS3. Hopefully it gets some more love once it comes to the 360 in the US and Europe. Japanese dont buy 360 hardware or software :( Thats gotta suck because Virtua fighter is huge in Japan but not so much elsewhere...

they arent selling it in japan cos there are only about 10 working 360s on the whole island. hahahah no one in japan cares about the 360, thats the reality of the matter. sega is raking in the cash in japan via the arcades. most japs would rather go to the arcade to play than play at home. any of u been to japan? ud know that after being there for a day! the arcades are packed

Xbox 360 sales have experienced HUGE "Spikes," every time a great game has been released.

For example, when Blue Dragon was released, nearly 200,000 Xbox 360 systems were sold in Japan with Blue Dragon on the same receipt.

Virtua Fighter is the most popular 3D fighting game series in Japan. If Virtua Fighter 5 Online were released in Japan, it would cause another huge increase in sales.

Remember, for quite a while, even the Sega Saturn outsold the Playstation in Japan, all because of Virtua Fighter!

400,000 systems is FAR MORE THAN ENOUGH hardware units to release a game in Japan, especially when you know it is the most popular 3D fighting series. There were less than 100,000 systems sold when Tecmo released Dead or Alive 4. If Sega doesn't release Virtua Fighter 5, it is because of some sort of "Japanese Loyalty," because they KNOW it would greatly contribe to improved Xbox 360 sales.

By the way WhyLoseUS (Fair and Balanced Tech Teacher), the Wii has NEVER had a third-party game end up in the Top 10 for sales, the PS3 has only had one, and the Xbox 360 has had OVER TWENTY!!! In terms of which system people are spending the most money on, the Xbox 360 is BY FAR the #1 system all over the world.

The truly important fact is that the Wii and Xbox 360 currently are at a 1:1 hardware ratio...but look at how terribly poorly the Playstation 3 has been outsold by the competition...ouch...I guess that's why games are cancelled quite often for the PS3.

Krogan, you said everytime a great game is released then you mentioned Blue Dragon... are you fucking nuts? that game sucks balls. Do you have it? I do and it is complete piss. I think the reason the Sega Saturn outsold the PSX was cos it was released sooner.. kinda the same situation we are going to see with the PS3 and 360.

The 360 is ahead cos it got a head start but now good games are starting to come to the PS3 its gonna change soon.

"The truly important fact is that the Wii and Xbox 360 currently are at a 1:1 hardware ratio"

How many of those 360s are still working? not many i should think with the FAILURE rate of that shit machine.
