Midway CEO David Zucker has revealed that in the past, the Xbox360 has taken the lead on releases and development becuase the company had worked out all the technical issues that the system had. Well, now it seems that Midway has finally worked out all the detailson the PS3 that have been preventing it from being the lead platform, and games should be on par now with the Xbox360 releases. On top of that, Midway is planning a huge "open world" game, to be announed soon. Good news!

This is nothing more than a HUGE public relations marketing LIE!!!

If this were true, then why are games that are a long ways from being released, such as Blacksite: Area 51, still vastly inferior on the Playstation 3.

For example, the Xbox 360 version of Balcksite: Area 51 includes all sorts of Voice Chat, but the Playstation 3 version doesn't...it's like that with virtually all third-party multi-platform games.

This is just marketing nonsense to try and promote products for Christmas.

And by the way...

Just because one of Midway's developers points out that it is easier to port a PS3 game to the Xbox 360 than it is to port an Xbox 360 game to the PS3 (due to the Xbox 360 being more powerful), it does NOT mean it is easier to have the PS3 as the Lead Development platform...the Xbox 360 will ALWAYS be BY FAR the easier Lead Development platform, because the Xbox 360 is fundamentally easier to program games for.

When the Xbox 360 is the Lead Development platform, the developers can experiment with new forms of gameplay...which is something that CANNOT be done as easily when the PS3 is the Lead Development platform because it takes longer to program PS3 games, and it is more difficult.

PS3 can only display 275,000,000 polygons per second, compared to 500,000,000 polygons per second for the Xbox 360. Obviously when you start making a game with a limit of 275,000,000 polygons, then it is VERY EASY to port that game to a system that can display 500,000,00 polygons.

On the other hand, when you have the Xbox 360 that can do 500,000,000 polygons per second, and you try and port a game using that many polygons to the PS3 that can only do 275,000,000 polygons, then it is difficult, because of the reprogramming that has to be done to make up for the loss of detail in the PS3 versions of the games.
