It turns out that the rumor we brought you yesterday may indeed be correct. There is now a teaser image for Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe that has surfaced, and MortalKombatOnline has posted it (it is a tad dodgy, though). Rumor mill still, but it sounds like MK8 and MKVDC are one in the same. Stick with GR folks, we bring you the news first.

Of course this is strictly rumor mill for now, but according to MortalKombat.org, not only is Mortal Kombat 8 in development, but there is also an MK Vs.DC Universe title in the works as well. The latter is aimed at a younger audience though, which may mean it is heading to Wii. Stay tuned, more info when we have it.

Midway haws announced that CEO David Zucker is resigning his post, effective immediately. Zucker is being replaced by Matthew Booty (great name!) in the meantime until a new permanent CEO is chosen. Tomorrow, check GI for the last interview given by Zucker as Midway CEO. Good luck to David!

Midway announced today that there is a map pack on the way for Stranglehold, the John Woo and Chow Yun-fat spiritual sucessor to Hard Boiled, all wrapped up in a video game. Midway today announced a downloadable map pack for the acclaimed 3rd person action adventure title, Stranglehold, for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 video game systems. The map pack features 10 additional multiplayer maps ranging from the Kowloon Market to Wong’s Estate Grounds to the Rooftops of Chicago, as well as 21 all-new multiplayer character skins. The Xbox 360 version will include 10 new achievements worth 250 points. Rated “M” for mature by the ESRB, the Stranglehold downloadable map pack will be available soon in North America via the PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE.

Midway CEO David Zucker has revealed that in the past, the Xbox360 has taken the lead on releases and development becuase the company had worked out all the technical issues that the system had. Well, now it seems that Midway has finally worked out all the detailson the PS3 that have been preventing it from being the lead platform, and games should be on par now with the Xbox360 releases. On top of that, Midway is planning a huge "open world" game, to be announed soon. Good news!

While the rumors of a MK Vs. DC COmics game have been around since 1996, this time there seems to be a bit more weight to it. According to TRMK.org, a poster on the IGN boards is claiming that the new game will indeed be a 'versus' style game. On top of that, the TRMK sources have confirmed this to the website staff, apparently. Rumor mill for now, for sure, but if the game is anything like Marvel Vs. EA, we are in for a real bomb!

Midway Games, Inc. today announced that Stranglehold has gone to gold master for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system. Developed by the team behind the critically acclaimed Psi-Ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy, Stranglehold is currently scheduled to ship in North America on September 5th for Xbox 360, September 18th for PC and September 25th for PS3. Additionally, Stranglehold is currently slated to ship in Europe on September 14th for Xbox 360, September 21st for PC and October for PS3.
