The most important part of the press release though, is the confirmation that Sony will indeed be releasing some sort of rumble pad for the PS3. See the part in bold below, click read more for it all.

We in the WGC are not pleased. Immersion has to know that a Microsoft Monopoly is what is good for the videogame industry. From the four corners of our Magic the Gathering table, myself, Unbiased, X of 360 and Industry Insider will fight this tooth and nail. We will equip our 4 strength 4 stam leather belts and see what happens. Immersion, watch out.

We are all quite distressed. Especially after seeing things like this.

We have arranged a meeting tonight on the Grand Elders Ventrilo. We will strike down any plague that threatens Microsoft being the Master of Consoles. If you want to join, the passcode to enter our club is..."Oh Lord Gates, isn't it great, to know that for you and your products, the WGC masterbates."

Response to the immature idiot impersonating me:

Phil Harrison of Sony said long ago that the Playstation 3 would be receiving rumble controllers dedicated to specific purposes from third-party manufacturers. Phil Harrison said that Sony would not produce those controllers in a first-party way, and he pointed out that those controllers would be dedicated to things like steering wheels, and guns, which is nearly identical to what this article says.

This particular article uses specific examples of racing wheels for driving games, and a flight style controller for flying games. I bet the rumble feature will also be added to the gun controller.

But nowhere does this article mention anything about a standard style controller with rumble technology. Based on what Phil Harrison had said in the past, and based on what is specifically mentioned in this article, it would be a surprise to see a standard style controller with rumble released for the PS3. After all, Sony's Phil Harrison said, "That was a 'last-gen' feature."

If there is a standard controller that includes rumble for the PS3 in September, it will be interesting to see how people react. After all, PS3 fanboys claim they don't care about the lack of rumble, but in reality, even a blind fanboy feels the lack of vibration.

It will also be interesting to see what Sony does for the consumers. Will Sony be willing to offer some sort of discount for rumble controllers to people who have already purchased non-rumble controllers?

Personally, I think it will be great if Sony finally finds a way to equal the rumble performance of the Xbox 360, Wii, PS2, Dreamcast, PS1, and N64.

Next, Sony can concentrate on playing catch-up in the area of Online Chat, and letting gamers play whatever music they want while playing games...ya know, the things Xbox 360 has been doing since its launch, but Playstation 3 still can't do...

But, as Sony's Jack Tretton would say, "It's just the PS3s first year,"...even though it is actually the SECOND year of Football software...all running at 60 frames per second on the Xbox 360, but only 30 frames per second on the PS3... and key developers like EA have been working on PS3 hardware just as long as Xbox 360 hardware. Remember, Fight Night Round 3 was originally for PS3 only, but ended up being released on Xbox 360 a year first because of the delay of PS3.

The TRUTH is that developers have been working on PS3 just as long as they have been working on Xbox 360…the key difference is that Sony willingly delayed the launch of the Playstation 3 by 8 months. If Sony hadn’t done that, PS3 would also be in its second year on the market. The bottom line is that Xbox 360 software outperforms the PS3. Even if you are willing to look at things from Sony’s biased point of view, the fact remains that the Xbox 360 is always going to remain one generation ahead of the PS3. Xbox 360 competes with Playstation 3 NOW, at THIS POINT IN TIME!!!

Maybe Sony's Jack Tretton needs to quit checking his zipper so many times (3 times according to him at E3) and concentrate on gameplay quality more.

One thing is for sure: If there is a standard style rumble controller released this September, it will be packed in with the PS3 system, because it would be quite stupid to avoid including it in the system if one was available.

With that in mind, it would be VERY STUPID to consider the purchase of the Playstation 3 before September of 2007, because you will get a better controller if you wait just several more weeks. Plus, Capcom says they expect the Playstation 3 to experience another price-drop before the year is over.

Makes sense, because when you consider that the Playstation 3 system is such a distant third place in terms of worldwide sales, you realize that Sony obviously needs to do desperate things to make up for the lack of games.

Like the saying goes and as the price-drop shows, "Desperate times call for desperate measures."

Thank you Unbiased for clarifying our stance on this for all of the others who don't agree that a competition free market for Microsoft is the only thing that is good for us. One of the major reasons you were elected to the head of the Wise Gamer Consortium is your ability to express your love and fascination for Microsoft products. I can't stand that they admitted that every console sold thus far is defective. It just makes your job selling them that much harder, and that just isn't fair to you or the WGC. You were right, wearing 4 strength 4 stam leather belts do help though.

lol.

@UTP,

Just have this to say: Killzone 2, 2GB of storage PER LEVEL. That would make for a 4-5 level game on the 360, unless they used multiple discs, but swapping discs isn't my idea of fun. The 360's design is hobbled by the choice of media drive.

Correction, 3-4 level game.

Ever heard of compression Madgunde??? 360 is not hobbled. Last time I checked the DVD-ROM Medium was still way cheaper to manufacture than the BD-ROM Medium. So even if the game couldnt be compressed it could be spanned over multiple DVD's??? Thats not crippling. Plenty of PS1 games came out on multiple CD's, I never had an issue changing discs. R we that F*CKING laxy now??? :p
