ESRB Won't Divulge Specifics On Manhunt 2 Rating Change > |
2007/08/28 19:02:04: Posted by DM | |
Last week, Rockstar announed that it made changes to its Manhunt 2 title in order to have the game receive an "M" rating from the ESRB, instead of its original "AO" rating, which would have made it virtually un-sellable in the US. Now, Senator Leland Yee from California, who is at the forefront of violent video game legislation, is demanding that the ESRB divulge the specifics of what was changed to make the game acceptable for an "M" rating. In a written response, ESRB president Patricia Vance said: "Publishers submit game content to the ESRB on a confidential basis. It is simply not our place to reveal specific details about the content we have reviewed, particularly when it involves a product not yet released."Good job, ESRB, don't let the Senator bully you. Once we start affecting the business revenues of corporations in order to pander to censorship, we really have lost this country. Of course, that' s just one poster's opinion.

Good, they don't need or have a legal responsibility to divulge that information.what a double standard nation we live in. where is the outrage about "unrated" DVDs? the Videogame industry has enough regulation where you won't see an mass market unrated videogame.

This is business not politics. If this info was releasedother wack games coming out will copy the elements. That why they didn't show footage of MGS for a long time.If this person thinks they can get what they want just because it involves video games, they need to get a life.
