PRESS RELEASE

September 28, 2006 (Rockville, MD) – Bethesda Softworks® announced today that its blockbuster role-playing game, The Elder Scrolls® IV: Oblivion™ will be a launch title for the PLAYSTATION®3 computer entertainment system this November in North America, and next March in Europe when the new console is expected to be released there. In addition, The Elder Scrolls® Travels: Oblivion™ will be released on the PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) system in the Spring 2007 in North America and Europe.

Both the PLAYSTATION 3 and PSP system titles will be published exclusively in North America by Bethesda Softworks, while in Europe, Ubisoft will serve as co-publisher. Complete details on both games are available in Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine’s (OPM) exclusive cover story (November issue), which hits newsstands Oct. 10. In its article OPM previews the gameplay, graphics, and new content in Oblivion and concludes: “If any game is worth the price of the PS3, Oblivion is it."

Released in March for Xbox 360™™ video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and Windows, Oblivion has already earned high praises and awards from publications around the world. Official Xbox Magazine (US) gave Oblivion a 9.5 out of 10 and an Editor’s Choice award, calling Oblivion “An Absolute Masterpiece.” G4 TV named it the Best Game of 2006, and PC Gamer (UK) ranked Oblivion #1 on its list of the Top 100 PC games of all time.

Metracritic.com lists Oblivion as the highest rated game of all time on Xbox 360. Oblivion has also been nominated for numerous awards in upcoming events, including the Golden Joystick Awards (five nominations) and The British Academy of Film and Television Arts awards (five nominations).

“We’re very excited to be able to bring a game like Oblivion out for launch for the PLAYSTATION 3,” said Bethesda Softworks president, Vlatko Andonov. “Oblivion’s countless awards and commercial success to date make it clear that PLAYSTATION 3 owners are in for a real treat this November.”

Oblivion features a powerful combination of free-form gameplay, unprecedented graphics, cutting edge AI, character voices by acting legends Patrick Stewart, Sean Bean, Terrance Stamp, and Lynda Carter, and an award-winning soundtrack. Gamers can choose to unravel Oblivion’s epic narrative at their own pace or explore the vast world in search of their own unique challenges.

After the mysterious and untimely death of the Emperor, the throne of Tamriel lies empty. With the Empire ready to crumble, the gates of Oblivion open and demons march upon the land - laying waste to everything in their path. To turn the tide of darkness, you must find the lost heir to the throne and unravel the sinister plot that threatens to destroy all of Tamriel.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is rated “M” for Mature by the ESRB and will be in stores throughout North America on November 17. For more information on The Elder Scrolls and Oblivion, visit the official web site at www.elderscrolls.com.

eh, i got bored of oblivion after a month. i'm waiting for lost odyssey which will probably kick oblivion's butt.

What does Oblivion and Lost odyssey have in common?? NOTHING!! You can compare oblivion to Bioshock or Mass effect because all of them are occidental RPGs.

Great news for PS3 fans. Better graphics and more content (This is obvious since its coming 6 months later)

I want to see oblivion for psp....YEY OBLVION in my tiny machine!!!

I have to agree w/ maddcoder on this one...Oblivion is a beautiful game, but it didn't take me long to get board w/ it. I quickly got to the point where I just didn't care about my character or his surroundings or anything...Its great for the PS3 and PSP though b/c it gives Sony customers more choice. Many people enjoyed the game and this will broaden its audience.

Oblivion is nice and all that jazz but the game is to short compared to morrowind

i used 10 hrs on the main plot and 30 on all the job quests.

A portable translation of Oblivion almost surely would not be a good game, since the PSP hardware is obviously not powerful enough to be used in this type of software.

Frankly, I believe developing Oblivion for the Playstation 3 is a waste of time, and it will be a costly mistake. All of the people I know and talk with already own Oblivion for the Xbox 360 or the PC. Nobody likes to buy a game more than once-nobody owns two copies of the same game!

The only way this game is going to sell well with would be newborn babies, because anybody one-year old or older was alive when the Xbox 360 and PC versions were released!

Plus, I have read that Oblivion is currently scheduled to be one of the $29.99 Platinum Hits games for the Xbox 360 in early 2007. Why would anyone want to pay twice as much for a Playstation 3 version! This is a perfect example of how not having enough systems at launch will hurt the Playstation 3. After Sony has enough parts to create PS3’s by spring of 2007, the $29.99 Xbox 360 version will be released. The Xbox 360 version is also on sale sometimes for as little as $39.99 now!

There has always been a huge amount of downloadable features added to the Xbox 360 version of the game. It makes a lot more sense for Xbox 360 owners to simply download the new content rather than pay full price for a “port” on the Playstation 3.

I don't know how the PSP version will do...Sony has always had the weakest hardware in each generation that they have released a game system. But this will DEFINITELY be a GIGANTIC sales flop for the Playstation 3, because everyone who is interested in this sort of game already owns it for either Xbox 360 or PC.

Then your friends must have a lot of money mike...90% of my friends havent played oblivion because either thye dont have a 900$ PC or are not interested in the XBOX360.

Elder Scrolls Oblivion wont be a "waste of time." A big launch title like that for a console thats sure to sell out this November would definately get Bestheda and Take Two some money which they really need. As for people who were interested already have this game, i go to different forums all over the next and i see Sony fans wanting this game on launch day. Some of my friends that are Sony fanboys are waiting for this game as well when it launches, i say it wont be a waste of time for Bestheda.

sorry i meant 2k games, not take two.

referring to mikemgoblue, the only people who dont own oblivion already are probably mostly from japan. they dont own it because they dont own an xbox 360. now that oblivion is on a console they like they will buy it. i dont unuderstand why you might think it would not sell. Dont completely rid the japanese market from american styled rpg's, they will definitly buy it for ps3
