Sony Says Little Big Planet May Be Biggest BR Release Of 08 >
2008/02/25 14:30:28: Posted by DM
A Sony spokesperson has revealed that Little Big Planet may be the biggest PS3 Blu-Ray release of 2008. Of course, this is surprising, considering we can think of at least one title that should eclipse it *cough* MGS4 *cough*. The Sony rep also revealed that Little BP will be getting the full red carpet release treatment. "This is a triple-A Blu-ray title." Says Sony.

The reason this is considered "bigger" than MGS4 is because it reaches to a broader audience.

Sony has always been about diverse gameplay. It's what won them the market share last time (along with brand name) and it will only help their cause this Gen.

Cryos is 100% correct.

The PS3 lacks games in key genres, which end up causing the entire audience of gamers to avoid the system.

PS1 and PS2 always had plenty of Real-Time Strategy games, Puzzle games, Party games, ect...

PS3 is 15 months old and STILL does NOT have a Real-Time Strategy game, and has virtually so support in similar genres. For example, Xbox 360 has TWO Tetris puzzle games, while the PS3 doesn't have a Tetris game.

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link, and when the PS3 has several "missing links" in genres that are importan to gamers in nich markets (RTS) and mass markets (Puzzle and Party) then that is BAD NEWS for the PS3.

This game will have a bigger impace on the success of PS3 than Metal Gear Solid 4, because it will be filling in a gap.

Plus, we NEED...I repeat, NEED, to remember that Metal Gear Solid 3 was a disappointment, and its sales weren't nearly as high as Metal Gear Solid 2 (which also appeared on the Xbox).

Conisering that the last Metal Gear Solid game developed was the poorest selling version in the series, and considering that the upcoming version is the most different in terms of character design, there are DEFINITELY risks being taken with MGS4.

MGS4 will likely end up being similar to Devil May Cry 4 and Assassins Creed where it ends up being rated with mostly 8 out of 10, or 7 out of 10.

I can't see whats so special about MGS 4 anyway. Its just MGS 1, with some extra stuff, and 'cut scenes'.
