Sony is going to commence the Resistance 2 beta sometime in early October. There are two ways to get in, it seems. If you live in Europe and buy Episode 3 or an annual subscription to Qore, you are guaranteed a spot. You can also try for open access, simply by casting your name into the pile over at the beta website when it opens. Good luck!

According to Swedish site Level7, the next Ratchet & Clank game should hit in 2009. How do they know? Well, the translation basically said that when the author finished Ratchet & Clank: Quest For Booty, a screen popped up and said: "Next Ratchet & Clank will be released late 2009."

Rumor mill for now, but it sounds legit. Great news!

Ted Price, mouthpiece for Insomniac, said that the company plans to integrate both PSN HOME and PS3 Trophy support into Resistance and Resistance 2. In other news, the co-op campaign will feature a separate story from the main, single player game. It will be lighter, of course, but it will add to the lore of the game.

"The co-op campaign will also help to flesh out the world with its separate story," Price said. "Albeit this story will be much 'lighter' than the story in the single-player campaign - in other words, no big movies for the co-op campaign."

In a new Gametrailers video segment, it was revealed that the Resistance sequel will fill a 50gb Blu-Ray disc. Good to hear, then again, the first game was on the long side as well. Leave it to Insomniac to give us our money's worth. It was also re-confirmed that the game will be shipping in November. Also great news.

MTV games Blog caught up with the president of Insomniac games, Ted Price, at the DICE game summit last month. They spoke about the PS3, of course, which is what Insomniac seems to be focusingon at the moment. Ted soke about the sales of "Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools Of Destruction,” plans for “Resistance 2” and even, briefly, about Surfer Girl. Just how the PS3 HOME service will integrate with three of the top games for the console has been detailed. Firstly, RFOM will feature rooms that will let players tap into bonus content in the form of intercepted radio transmissions. Uncharted will feature a Naughty Dog portal, of sorts, and will allow the player's HOME avatars to explore the game's levels without fear of being shot at. There will also be a mini-game that is said to be reminiscent of 2D Contra or Bionic Commando. Finally, Warhawk will feature lobbies where up to 8 players can meet before a match and discuss strategies, etc. This is aided by a 3D "sand table" replica of the upcoming map, built to scale and all, and complete with tiny icons to represent player avatars. A listing for Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters has appeared on the Gamestop listing website for release in February. For just $29.99 as well, this may be some great news for R&C fans, even new R&C fans, converted by the recent fantastic PS3 R&C game. Rumor mill for now, though.
