EA Keeps It Real: 'difficult to get it right the first time' >
2007/08/15 15:39:38: Posted by HoTHiTTeR
Imagine you're a multi-billion dollar gaming company. You've released your ultra-hit title, but it's a little on the slow side and isn't as crisp on one console vs. another. What do you do? (Light Bulb!) Tell them you understand if they don't buy it! EA states "it is very difficult to get it right the first time", and while that may be true, didn't they release a little gem called Madden NFL 07? Read what EA had to say after the jump.

LMAO. I just read through all the comments on the N4G site. This is total BS. Some dude made it up. Anybody who believes that EA has only been working on developing games since Summer of 2006 for the PS3 is an idiot. SDK's were available since Summer of 2005 for the PS3. Then this same article claims that EA has had 360 SDK's since the beginning of 2004????? Are U serious??? Read the supposed EA response. Its so fake. 1 year vs 3 1/2 years in development times. ROFL!!!!!

My reply to EA's? Stop making shitty ports.
Written by sticky on 2007/08/15

Good to see them being honest.

Do they have any other choice? :)

EA licks nuts. (I only play their NHL games cause I love hockey so much)

i like what someone posted, if 2k games did it , why cant they do it... ?

Response to Itaintrite:

What about how the developers of All-Pro Football 2K8, developed by 2K Sports, made it 100% clear that "All-Pro Football 2K8 was built 'from the ground up' for the Playstation 3."

That means, "it is NOT a 'port.'"

Yes, ALL THREE of the Football games, from two completeley different publishers, have the Xbox 360 versions running at what Gamespot says is, "a smooth 60 frames per second at 1080p on the Xbox 360," while the Playstation 3 version, "Struggles to run at 30 frames per second at 720p resolution."

1UP actually said, "If you own both an Xbox 360 and a Playstation 3, then only a fool would consider buying the Playstation 3 version of the game."

Response to PimpDaddy:

Sony made it 100% clear at the 2005 E3 show that Third-Party developers had already been given Development Kits.

ONLY A FOOL would believe that companies such as Namco, Square-Enix, and even the tiny Epic Games company would be given PS3 development kits, but Electronic Arts--the Worlds LARGEST Videogame Publisher--did not receive Playstation 3 development kits...

ONLY A FOOL would believe such nonsense!!!

EA was one of the FIRST to receive PS3 development kits!!!

How do I know???

Simple, they showed Fight Night Round 3 for the Playstation 3 before they showed it for the Xbox 360. In fact, Fight Night Round 3 was originally announced exclusively for the Playstation 3.

Like so many others, Fight Night Round 3 was announced and released for the Xbox 360--and rated higher, as usual.

How else do I know??? Because EA is the MOST IMPORTANT Third-Party company in the world!!! Oh yeah, I mentioned that already, because it is TRUE and a FACT!!!

And by the way...I agree with EVERYONE who has pointed out that Electronic Arts released Madden 2007 last year. Madden 2008 is NOT the first Football game EA released for the Playstation 3.

In reality: Madden 2008 is a second generation Football game for the Playstation 3.

Madden 2008 will represent the Playstation 3 until next-summer, when the Playstation 3 is clost to its THIRD BIRTHDAY on the market!!!

why does every ps fan call a developer lazy or accuse them of doing a shitty port, the game comes once a year, if you want a better game how long will you be willing to wait?
Written by sticky on 2007/08/16

arthur56k its not that we are accusing them of anything, its that we are disputing what people like you and krogan harp on about. i understand how hard it is to write code, esp on a completely different machine that handles everything in a different way. EA has admitted that they need more time to make the games look better and run faster on ps3. Thats fine cos thats the truth. Will this always be the case? most certainly not and you 360 fanboys will have nothing to fall back on except your games that consist of 10 DVDs each. haha btw im writing this post on my ubuntu install on my ps3! are you using ur 360 to reply to this post?
Written by arthur56k on 2007/08/16

got the 360 to play games, not browse, or watch movies, or type word, if and when i get the ps3 God willing, you can be sure that i will use it for gaming, we have DVD machines and PCs to do that, cool reply though

sticky (Sky),

It will ALWAYS be this difficult for developers to "write code," for the Playstation 3!

Sega's Yu Suzuki pointed out that "Less than 1% of developers have the necessary skill required to create videogames in that sort of parallel processing environment, which is rarely used for gaming."

Just look at what Sega said about the Saturn--which used parallel processing, just like the Playstation 3 does.

Sega kept saying, "It won't always be this way; once developers learn how to program for the Saturn, the Saturn games will be better than the Playstation games."

Only three games can actually say they truly took advantage of the Saturn hardware--and all of them were created by Sega's legendary developers--representing the 1% of the development environment capable of doing such a thing.

Playstation 3 games are even more complex, more time consuming, and more expensive to program than Saturn games were.

sticky (Sky), WHEN, IF, SOMEDAY, ONE-DAY, IN-AN-ALTERNATE-DIMENSION-WHICH-ONLY-SONY's KEN KUTARAGI CAN SEE, 10 YEARS FROM NOW, ect...................... I think what I'm saying is, "In your imagination where the world moves at 120 frames per second, with 4D games, and 2 HDMI ouputs (all nonsense), the PS3 might have some hope, just like Sega fans thought about the Saturn."

In reality, Saturn and Playstation 3 are in the EXACT same ship...one of "Hope for tomorrow," but "Misery for Today."

The true problem is that "Tomorrow" will rarely be seen for the Playstation 3. Look at the Saturn for proof.

And Xbox 360 will ALWAYS be a generation ahead of the Playstation 3.
