WOW!!!

Xbox 360 Arcade = AWESOME!!!

The 256MB Memory Card is more than you would ever need for Saving games...and it even has the ability to hold LOTS of Xbox Live Arcade games!

The Hard-Drive is what makes Backward Compatibility possible with original Xbox games. So, if you aren't sure whether or not you want backward compatibility, you can always upgrade later by purchasing the Hard Drive for the Xbox 360.

I think the Xbox 360 Arcade system is going to sell a LOT of systems this Christmas, especially in parts of the world where high-speed Internet is not available.

This should have been how the core was configured from the get go.

maybe i shouldve waited until this was released. i only really cared about HDMI, which is why i bought the elite... oh well... big ass hard drive now!

@Krogan

Yeah, for $100. You also forgot to mention that the hard drive is needed if you want to play games online. Why not spend an extra $70 and get the whole experience instead of the crippled ghetto experience?

I'm sorry, but the Arcade 360 is very poor value and poorly thought out. If you have an HDMI equipped TV, you're likely to have broadband, since if you can't afford broadband, you can hardly afford an HDTV now, can you? They should have made the mid-range model have HDMI and left the Arcade without HDMI if anything. Ideally, all models would have HDMI and a hard disk. I think a lot of people who buy the Arcade will do so not realizing the limitations, nor that it will cost much more to add-on the hard disk later. Not to mention $100 for a 20GB hard disk is a rip off.

If you don't have broadband, how are you supposed to buy XBLA games anyway?

I am not sure where you heard that from but you do NOT need hardddrive to play online. It is only need for games saves and backward compatibility.

Response to sadt, and madgunde:

sadt, you are 100% correct!!!

madgunde, you are 100% WRONG...as usual!!!

You do NOT need a Hard Drive in order to play Xbox 360 games on the Internet!!!
Written by SupremeChaotic on 2007/10/23

Nope. No Harddrive needed as long as you have a memory card.

So, yeah, it is Live capable right out of the box without having to purchase any extra accessories for the console itself.

High speed internet not avalible? too bad they couldn't even throw in a fighter, packed with crappy arcade shit that makes my xbox live arcade disc shiny

madgunde, what are you on? do some research for heaven sake
Written by madgunde on 2007/10/24

Obviously I was misinformed and I retract my previous statement about the hard disk being required to play online. 256MB of memory is pretty darn limiting though, and additional memory cards are expensive as heck. Buy a couple extra memory cards and you've already spent more than it would have cost you to just buy the higher end 360, or a 40GB PS3 for that matter, which have far more storage.

The 360 Arcade is still a very poor value compared to the other offerings.

Seriously, 256MB of space is INFINITELY more than enough to save EVERY game you would ever play on the Xbox 360.

Seriously, 256MB of space is enough to PLENTY of your favorite Xbox Live Arcade games.

I think Double Dragon is only about 16MB in size...Doom is only 25MB in size...You could hold LOTS of your favorite Xbox Live Arcade games on a 256MB Memory Card, and still have plenty of space left over to save all your Xbox 360 games.

The 256MB Memory Card is AWESOME...and so is the Xbox 360 Arcade package!
Written by incoming00 on 2007/10/24

well, i decided to plop the extra 150 bucks for an elite with 120gb. and it came with a bunch of XBLA games too. i think 256MB is relatively small compared to a hard drive, but its much larger then any memory card(except Wii) released on any other console! but saying that 256MB is INFINITELY enough is farfetched. rewind to May 2007 and try and fit the 1gig file to play Halo 3 beta on that card(which by the way Walmart is still selling Crackdown with the Halo 3 beta sticker!)

I think we can all agree that the 360 Arcade sku is meant to appeal to the casual consumer who wants to play the latest videogames but doesnt want to spend over $300.00. The casual consumer probably doesnt have an HDTV or broadband internet. So a 256MB memory card would have plenty of space for game saves. This Arcade SKU is supposed to compete with the Wii, and also to give those cost conscious consumers a cheaper entry point into HD videogaming.

I personally wouldnt buy the Arcade for myself, but I would recommend it to anyone who was getting a Wii as I think this is way better than a Wii and you can always upgrade to a HDD later...
